Doug Gottlieb, the basketball analyst and current head men’s basketball coach at Green Bay, had a long and personal journey both on and off the court, including a notable two-decade-long marriage to his wife, Angie Gottlieb.

Doug Gottlieb, born January 15, 1976, is a former basketball player and current head coach of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay men’s basketball team.

Known for his impressive college career, Gottlieb led the NCAA in assists twice while playing at Oklahoma State and still holds numerous school records.

Following college, he had a brief professional basketball career, playing in leagues across the U.S., Europe, and Israel.

Transitioning to media, he became a basketball analyst and radio host working with ESPN, CBS, and Fox Sports.

In May 2024, Gottlieb began his coaching career with Green Bay, marking a new chapter in his basketball journey.

Doug Gottlieb Met Angie Gottlieb While Attending Oklahoma State University

Doug Gottlieb was married to his Angie Gottlieb, whom he met while attending Oklahoma State.

Originally from Drumright, Oklahoma, Angie became an important part of his life during his college years.

The couple married in August 2000 and spent over two decades raising three children.

They have twin daughters, Harper and Grace, born on April 14, 2006, in Hartford, Connecticut, and a younger son, Hayes.

However, after 21 years of marriage, Doug and Angie divorced in 2021.

Since their separation, Angie has maintained a very private life and has not posted anything publicly on social media since that year.

On the other hand, Doug continues to focus on his broadcasting career and personal journey, often reflecting on life’s lessons through his platform.

Doug Gottlieb’s Path to Redemption, Overcoming a Career-Defining Mistake!

Doug Gottlieb candidly shared the story of a mistake that nearly derailed his career in 1996 during an interview in 2013.

As a freshman, Gottlieb found himself struggling with depression and feelings of inadequacy in a new environment.

These struggles led him to make poor decisions, including using stolen credit cards for shoes, clothing, and jewelry.

When confronted by Notre Dame’s basketball coach, John MacLeod, about the allegations, Gottlieb admitted to his actions.

Despite his attempts to apologize to the victims and repay what he had taken, the incident led to his dismissal from the team.

Initially, Notre Dame allowed him to leave quietly, citing homesickness as the reason.

However, when the story was leaked to the media, it became a national scandal.

Gottlieb faced legal consequences, including a $500 fine, restitution payments, and mandatory therapy.

He took time to reflect, addressing the entitlement and poor judgment that had fueled his behavior.

He eventually transferred to Oklahoma State University, where he redeemed himself both on and off the court, leading the nation in assists as a junior and meeting Angie.

While the incident remains a stain on his record, he has used it as a lesson to grow and rebuild his life.
