Saimir Demi passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with a serious illness.

However, the detailed information about his concealed serious illness remains unknown.

Saimir Demi is survived by his wife, Albana Mosho Demi, and their son, Bjorn.

The Albanian sports journalist Saimir Demi always appreciated his wife, Albana. Just a couple of weeks ago, he had shared an emotional tribute to her acknowledging her roles as a teacher, mother, and central figure in the family.

He wrote:

Albana, you who give us the meaning of home, even by giving us pedagogy lessons. You deal with the boy and all the money in the family, with a bunch of students and me, a man with bad luck.
You never complained to us, while we thank you for everything, as in a different place.
Happy 7-8 March, our teacher and mother, that God himself painted your soul.

Saimir also had a sound relationship with his son, Bjorn. Every now and then he would share post about Bjorn, acknowledging how their lives have changed for good since his arrival.

Likewise, he also left behind his brother, Enkel Demi, and extended family members. Enkel shared the tragic news on his Facebook page:

It is not easy, but this announcement must be made. My only brother, Saimiri left for Hyji today at noon. The only consolation is that he did not suffer and that he was surrounded by the care of the doctors of the Infectious Hospital and his people of his heart.

According to his post, Saimir Demi’s tributes will be held at 12.00 on March 24, 2025, at the headquarters of Alba 2000 at the former Yugoslav Embassy on Durres Street.

From there, at 14.00 we will take Saimir to his last apartment in Sharra,” Enkel added in the post.

A long-time member of RTSH, Demi has also worked in various sports newspapers and has been an editor for several years.

His colleague, journalist Defrim Methasani, delivered the bitter news by writing a lengthy post that reads:

The last phone call seemed pessimistic to me, but I never believed his passing so quickly. We will miss Saimir Demi from today, leaving behind us the sorrow of his sudden departure, at only 57 years old. RTSH Sport is in mourning, as is the Demi family and the family of sports journalists. The serious illness brought down the man who loved life so much, while everyone who knew him and worked with him loved him just as much.
Condolences to the family, his noble mother, his wife Albana who did everything for his life, his dear brother Kel Demi who was by his side at every moment, his only son Bjorn who became his friend, and to his many friends and colleagues.

Rest in peace, special friend and colleague, who with your departure will leave us with a huge void, as big as the wounds of Chameria from which you came…! ” Methasani added.
