The former NHL player Alex Galchenyuk is married and has a wife. During his arrest, Galchenyuk even revealed that his wife was pregnant and he needed to go home to her.
In 2012, if you had told an NHL fan that Alex Galchenyuk wouldn’t fulfill his potential, they wouldn’t have believed you. An overall third pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL Draft, Galchenyuk currently plays for KHL.
Galchenyuk received chance after chance to prove himself, but the hockey player never got in the groove. Arizona Coyotes even signed him three times, but he failed to make any impact.
In fact, earlier this year, after he returned to Coyotes, Alex was arrested on multiple charges. The American-born Belarusian player issued an apology statement a week after the incident.
But the bodycam footage of the incident has recently surfaced on the internet, and the former NHL player can be seen threatening the police officer and their families.
Alex Galchenyuk Wife: Is Former NHL Player Married Or Dating?
Alex Galchenyuk told the police officer to let him go to his pregnant wife. Galchenyuk has kept his married life away from public scrutiny as he doesn’t have an active social media profile.
This is also probably the first time his fans have been alerted that the former Penguins player is now a married man. Before the police officers arrested Galchenyuk, his dad was talking to the officers on the sidewalk.
And that is when Alex threatened one of the police officers from his BMW’s passenger seat and tried to reach for something. This made the police officers remove him from his car as Alex repeatedly asked them to let him home to go to his pregnant wife.
Previously, in 2016, Alex was said to have been dating a woman named Chanel Leszczynski, and we don’t believe Chanel is Alex’s current partner. And there is a strong reason for it.
In 2016, Chanel was arrested on charges of domestic violence against Alex. At a party hosted by Alex at his home, Chanel showed up and began attacking him.
His teammate Devante Smith-Pelley and his other friends at the party came to his aid and called 911 for help.
On X (Formerly Twitter), in 2019, Alex had shared a few romantic posts with a woman. He also tagged her in the photos, with @jtara__ being the woman’s username. But we aren’t sure whether she is Alex’s present partner.
Alex Galchenyuk Mental Health Update
After the video of Alex’s arrest surfaced online, many NHL fans questioned whether Alex was in a healthy mental state. After he was arrested on July 9, Alex shared an apology statement on his X handle.
The former Coyotes player Alex Galchenyuk wrote he was sorry for his disrespectful and despicable behavior. He also stated he was checking himself into the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
But reading through his history, Alex might have struggled with anxiety or substance abuse previously. In 2017, his then-manager Mario Tremblay suggested that the former Canadiens forward had been in and out of rehab twice.
Later, Tremblay refused to answer the question as he received backlash for discussing Alex’s problem in a public manner. Many believed Tremblay’s action could deter a player from seeking help and remain in hiding.
In 2017, Alex was also part of the BellCause. He shared a photo of him holding the sign with the BellCause hashtags and captioned the post, “Mental health is very important, and you should have NO fear talking about it. Let us help end the stigma!”
What Alex said to the officers during his arrest was wrong, but we do hope that the former NHL player can address the problem he is going through right now.
