Earlier this year, the former England cricketer proposed to his partner Nina Strong during his visit to South Africa. Nina comes from South Africa and attended Alex’s match during the T20 World Cup last year.
Hales announced his retirement from international cricket on August 4 from his Instagram account. In a career that spanned over a decade, Hales won his only international trophy last year at the T20 World Cup tournament.
Hales has been out of England’s team plan in the ODI format since 2019, but retiring a year before the World Cup begins is surprising.
Nonetheless, Hales will now have enough time to prepare for his wedding with his fiance, Nina, and he might even pursue golf, which has become the latest new trend.

Alex Hales’ future wife, Nina Strong, hails from South Africa and is a qualified chartered accountant.
Since her school days, Nina has always been a top student. During high school at Somerset College Senior School, Nina received a National Senior Certificate.
She became part of the IEB Outstanding Achievement list, an achievement only received by those who are part of the top 1% in the country for Mathematics.
Nina then enrolled at Stellenbosch University, where she studied accounting and business management, completing her degree in 2017. After graduation, Nina began working at the Big Four audit firm, Deloitte.
She joined Deloitte in 2018 as a First Year Audit Assistant and became a senior assistant a year later before becoming senior in 2020. In 2021, Nina joined Oceanrock Consulting.
At Oceanrock, they provide high-quality research and financial modeling to the investment community in the UK. Nina joined Oceanrock as a Private Equity Analyst in 2021 and was promoted to Senior Private Equity Analyst at the start of the year.
While working with Oceanrock, Nina completed her Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst course with CFI. She shared the news on her LinkedIn account and thanked her company for sponsoring the study.
But five months into working as a Senior Private Equity Analyst, Nina quit her job in May. Nina is available on Instagram with the username @nina.strong but has kept her account private.

Earlier this year, during his stay in South Africa, Alex decided he was ready to take his relationship with Nina to the next level.
The former English cricketer went down on one knee at Kariega Game Reserve Settlers Drift as he proposed to Nina. Hales shared a galley of images, including the moment he asked Nina to be his wife.
The chartered accountant, who was busy clicking pictures, didn’t even know her boyfriend was ready with a ring behind her. After the proposal, the couple enjoyed a nice dinner, with Alex holding Nina’s hand to the camera to show the engagement ring.
Nina and Alex first went public with their romance in July 2022. Alex shared a photo of him and Nina while she visited him in the UK. A couple of weeks later, Alex was seen in South Africa, visiting trendy restaurants and going for a safari ride.
The couple hasn’t been too public about their relationship, sharing photos once in a while. Nina accompanied her man to Australia, where England lifted their second T20 World Cup.
Recently, Nina and Alex were partying with their friends in Ibiza after their trip to Dublin, Ireland. The cricketer shared a gallery of images from both their trips to Dublin and Ibiza on his Instagram handle.
