Andrew Saalfrank, an American professional baseball pitcher, grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, under the care of his parents, Doug and Heidi.

Andrew Jacob Saalfrank is a professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB).
He played college baseball at Indiana University before joining the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2018.
The Arizona Diamondbacks then picked up Saalfrank in the 6th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft.
He started his professional career with the Arizona League Diamondbacks and eventually was promoted to the Low-A Hillsboro Hops.
On September 4th, 2023, Saalfrank reached a major career milestone as he was selected for the 40-man roster and debuted in the Major Leagues.

His parents, Doug and Heidi Saalfrank, are both natives of Hoagland and are alumni of Heritage High School. It is possible that they found love during their high school years.
Presently, Doug Saalfrank works as a supervisor at B.F. Goodrich, while Heidi Saalfrank is a dedicated sales representative for Heritage Food Services.
The support of his parents has been instrumental in Andrew’s journey. Following his memorable MLB debut in September, Heidi Saalfrank shared her emotions during an interview with MLB Network at the ballpark.
“I am overjoyed for Andrew tonight. Since he was just three years old, he always dreamt of becoming a professional MLB player, and he made that dream a reality tonight.”
Saalfrank was inspired by his mother’s siblings, Jason Richman, a baseball player, and Tiffany Bennett, a volleyball player, both at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.

Hailing from Indiana, he is not the only athlete in his family. His older sister, Abby Saalfrank, also had a remarkable career as an NCAA Division I volleyball player at Eastern Illinois University.
At Heritage High School, Abby embarked on her athletic journey, earning recognition for her outstanding achievements.
She received multiple honors, including All-Allen County Athletic Conference accolades and titles such as Offensive Player of the Year and MVP.
Under the mentorship of coaches Steve Walter and Jay Larhman, she also gained recognition as part of the Homestead Invite All-Tournament squad.
Continuing her success at Eastern Illinois, Abby’s exceptional talent earned her the prestigious title of OVC Freshman of the Year.
She earned a strong player reputation, making it to the OVC All-Newcomer Squad and Oakland Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Today, Abby has embarked on a new chapter in her life. She is happily married and a proud mother of two beautiful children, continuing to inspire her family with her dedication and success.
