Ron Washington, the manager of the Los Angeles Angels, has been married to his wife, Gerry Washington, for over half a century, i.e., 53 years to be precise.

The former infielder-turned-baseball manager, Ron Washington, and his wife, Gerry Washington, met in 10th grade at John McDonogh High School in New Orleans.

As young adults, they fell in love, began dating in their teenage years, and remained together through college. Over time, their relationship grew nothing but stronger.

Eventually, they decided to commit to each other, and Ron and Gerry exchanged vows on September 16, 1972.

Throughout their long-term marriage, the couple welcomed three children: Ron Washington Jr., Emily Washington, and Robert Washington.

Their son, Ron Jr., followed in his father’s footsteps and became a baseball player, playing in the minor leagues for teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets.

Having said that, their marriage has been nothing short of challenges, including infidelity.

Ron Washington Admitted to Cheating His Wife, Gerry Washington, in 2014!

In 2014, Ron Washington faced a significant personal and professional challenge when he admitted to infidelity, which led to his resignation as manager of the Texas Rangers.

When Ron resigned as manager of the Texas Rangers, he gave a heartfelt statement before ending the press conference by walking out with his arm around Gerry, saying,

I was not true to my wife. After 42 years, I broke that trust. I’m here to own that mistake and to apologize to her.

The incident was a low point in their marriage, as Ron publicly acknowledged being unfaithful to Gerry.

He stated that he resigned to take responsibility for his actions and to focus on repairing his relationship with his wife.

The news shocked many in the baseball community, as Ron was a respected figure, but he chose to be transparent about his mistake.

Despite this difficult moment, it appears Ron and Gerry worked through the issue together, as there is no evidence to suggest they separated.

Since 2014, they have continued their marriage, with Gerry supporting Ron as he returned to baseball, first as a coach with the Oakland Athletics and later as the manager of the Los Angeles Angels.
