The crash, which occurred on San Geronimo Valley Road near Woodacre, has sparked an outpouring of grief on social platforms.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident took place around 7:40 p.m. when a westbound Volkswagen Tiguan, carrying six teenage girls, went off San Geronimo Valley Road, just south of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

The SUV collided with a tree and subsequently caught fire, creating a harrowing scene for first responders.
