His brother, Armond Armstead, is a former defensive lineman for the New England Patriots of the National Football League and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
He went undrafted in the 2012 NFL drafts and was signed by the Argonauts as a free agent in 2012.
Armstead also attended Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, California. Armstead played three seasons at the University of Southern California from 2008 to 2010.
However, due to a then-unknown injury, USC’s medical team failed to medically clear him to play in 2011.
He then sued the school, accusing team physicians of giving him Toradol pills, which caused a heart attack and harmed his future earning potential.
Armond recently bought a new house in Sacramento, California, in order to stay close to friends and family.
