In 2019, Brooks declared himself for the NBA draft. But unfortunately, he lost his eligibility for his final year of college basketball by doing this.

College Career

Brooks may have had a brilliant start to his NBA career. But in life, nothing is easy, and it certainly wasn’t for the 25 old too.

How was he able to prove the doubters wrong?

There was not a lot of interest shown in him for recruiting. But the few offers he received were enough for him.

Brooks left his high school and joined the University of Houston.

He joined the Houston Cougars men’s basketball team under coach Kelvin Sampson. The youngster called it the best decision they made by him in 2019.

The US-born star continued his improvement and became the best player for the Cougars. He also declared to be in the NBA Draft in 2019, forgoing his final year of college eligibility.

College Park Skyhawks

But, with no luck, Brooks was not drafted in 2019. This was an unfortunate moment for Brook. All his calculations of letting go of his final year at college in the hopes of being there in the NBA 2019 draft went wrong.

Well, Brook did not let the failure disappoint him. He went on to play with the Washington Wizards in the 2019 NBA Summer League with all the stored courage.

Again in August 2019, he signed for Atlanta Hawks but was waived on October 18.

The College Park Skyhawks took Brooks on for the NBA G League affiliate. For the Skyhawks, Brooks scored a career-high 38 points against the Lakeland Magic on January 24, 2020.

Four days after scoring his career-high, he scored 32 points against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Throughout his season with the Skyhawks, he averaged 10.7 points and 3.4 rebounds.

The Canadian Elite Basketball League’s Saskatchewan Rattlers signed Brooks on April 20, 2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he could not participate that season.

Eventually, he was selected by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Rio Grande Valley Vipers

Brooks was selected in the first round of the NBA G League draft by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on January 11, 2021. He played 15 games for the vipers.

The youngster could average 16.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.07 steal that season. He led the G-League in 3-pointers with 37. He averaged a 3.8 on 37.5 percent shooting.

In a match against the Phoenix Suns, Brooks scored his career-high. He was able to score 14 points in 14 minutes.

With his tremendous skill, he was known for his shooting skills in the G League. With this skill, he was said to have the ability to score 4 of the five shots he would attempt from the 3-point range.

His teams had notable veteran guards Sterling Brown and DJ Augustin missing. The pair had a sore left knee and sprained left ankle, respectively. This lent Brooks an incredible opportunity.

He took his chances well and showed the team his true potential.

The Vipers’ head coach Stephen Silas had a lot of praise for Brooks’ performance. But he had to say, “That was awesome to see. We had him in the fourth quarter of a tight game, and he was stepping up and making shots. That was great. It was cool to see.”

A Career in New Zealand

There was a moment in his career when he could have played basketball in New Zealand. Odd, but this is true; luckily, he signed with the Houston Rockets.

Even though Brooks joined the NBA team on April 3, 2021, he was not very far from playing in a whole different continent. Luckily, his talent was not wasted outside NBA.

Armoni was just a moment away from boarding his flight to New Zealand as he was at the airport when he got the call, according to thedailycougar.com.

He was almost playing pro league when he got the news of his two-way contract with the Houston Rockets.

A two-way contract was signed with the Vipers’ NBA affiliate on April 3, 2021, the Houston Rockets. Brook’s agent EJ Kusnyer of Beyond Athlete Management, guaranteed him the deal.

Houston Rockets (2021-present)

In his NBA journey, Brooks has participated in 20 games in which he has started five.

Brooks amassed 11.2 points per game with 38.2 shot percent on 3s. In a match in May, he scored 20 points and hit six 3s in 31 minutes against the Philadelphia 76ers. But unfortunately, the rockets lost the game.

On May 12, the rookie player scored his career-high 24 points in his NBA career. But it was again in his team’s loss against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Armoni was one of the finest shooters the world had ever seen in his rookie NBA season. In such a short time, he established himself in the NBA. He recorded 47 three-pointers in his first 14 games for the Rockets.

The young boy was the 561st highest-paid NBA player in 2021 and the 25th highest-paid player for the Houston Rockets in 2021. Additionally, it was reported that he is the 254th highest-paid guard player.
