However, instead of protecting him, the Savannah Police Department arrested him.

Sgt. Colon was the officer who showed up alongside Lt. Hewett when Malik called for the authorities’ help.

He was wrongfully arrested because of what he did. He had exposed police misconduct, corruption, and the lack of accountability in Savannah.

Sadly, his daughter saw it all, and since that day, he hasn’t seen or spoken to Carlee.

Previously, Malik surprised Carlee with floor tickets to see her favorite artist, Rod Wave, and watch her favorite player, Raven Johnson, who was his friend.

Similarly, he took her to her South Carolina teammates’ play. Malik had asked Raven to speak life into her and encourage her to keep playing basketball so the high school could rank her.

Carlee told him that she might start playing in middle school, which was a proud moment that meant everything to him.

Carlee, Daddy loves you more than words can explain. I fight every day not just for justice — but for us.
