Cooper Hummel, an American professional baseball outfielder and catcher for the Houston Astros of MLB, is a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ashley Virga Hummel, off the field.

The MLB star, Cooper Hummel, often expresses his love and pride for his wife, Ashley, on social media, regarding her as his best friend and constant supporter.

While details about the beginning of their relationship are not publicly available, Cooper Hummel’s Instagram posts suggest he first met his wife, Ashley, in December 2017, and they’ve been together ever since.

In an Instagram post from December 2019 featuring several beautiful pictures of Cooper Hummel and his wife, Ashley, the MLB star wrote:

“2 years ago I found the girl of my dreams! You make my life so fun and exciting! You always put a smile on my face and spending time with you is always my favorite part of my day. After dating for nearly two years, the couple got engaged at Papakea Resort Maui in October 2019.

Cooper shared the beautiful moment of proposing to his longtime partner, Ashley, on Instagram, along with a heartfelt caption: ‘Today will be a day I will never forget! I asked my best friend to marry me! I’m so excited for our future together, Ashley! I love you!

After two years of their engagement, the couple tied the knot on November 20, 2021, at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach in front of their family, friends, and loved ones.

Likewise, Cooper Hummel and his wife, Ashley, recently became parents to a beautiful baby girl. They welcomed their first child, Lyla Grace Hummel, in February 2025.

Unlike Cooper Hummel, his wife, Ashley Virga Hummel, keeps a low profile and has not shared much about her professional life.

Cooper Hummel’s Wife, Ashley, Is a Former High School Volleyball Star

While Ashley Hummel hasn’t shared much about her professional journey and current life, she once won the hearts of many with her amazing athletic skills.

A native of Irvine, California, Ashley Virga Hummel was a dedicated volleyball player at Northwood High School in Irvine, California, from which she graduated in 2016.

Standing at 5’5”, she played primarily as a defensive specialist and libero, wearing jersey #9 during her junior and senior years.

Throughout her junior year in 2014, Ashley contributed to Northwood’s strong 18-8 overall record and 7-3 league record, helping the team secure 3rd place in their league.

In her earlier junior year season in 2013, Ashley helped the team achieve a 14-11 record with a 5-2 league record, finishing 2nd in the league.

She further attended the University of Portland, her husband Cooper’s alma mater, and graduated in January 2021.
