On May 11, 2025, the Bethpage community faced great sadness when Vincent Andrew Cavaliere, a 20-year-old sophomore at Assumption University, died in a car accident in his hometown on Long Island.
The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on Stymus Avenue in Bethpage.
Three people in an SUV were killed when the vehicle struck a tree at the edge of Bethpage State Park and caught fire, Nassau Police said.

According to the report, the accident claimed the lives of two other young men, all friends from Plainedge High School.
Vincent and his two friends, also Plainedge High School graduates, were traveling in an SUV when it veered off the road, struck a tree, and burst into flames.
The Bethpage Fire Department responded swiftly, extinguishing the fire, but all three young men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nassau County Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash, but no further details have been released.

At 6’1″, he was a force on the football field, wearing the #15 jersey as a Wide Receiver and Free Safety.
His talent helped lead the Plainedge Red Devils to two football championships in 2019 and 2021.
He also shone on the basketball court as a Power Forward and Center, again donning the #15 jersey, and competed in track, showcasing his speed and determination.
His coaches and teammates remember him as a leader who lifted everyone around him with his work ethic and positivity.
Vincent was carving out a bright future at Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
As a defensive back for the Greyhounds football team, he brought the same passion to the college field that defined his high school years.
As a business major, Vincent dreamed of owning his own company one day.
His professors noted his ambition and drive, qualities that made him stand out in the classroom as much as on the gridiron.
Born to Joseph and Margaret Cavaliere, Vincent grew up in Bethpage surrounded by love.
He shared a close bond with his three siblings—Joseph, Charlotte, and Jack.
The Cavaliere family was a community pillar, known for their warmth and generosity.
Vincent’s parents and siblings were his biggest cheerleaders. They were often seen at his games, cheering him on from the sidelines.
