Adrian Torrens, 53, has been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Audrey Griffin nearly a month after her body was discovered in a creek on the NSW Central Coast.

Her parents and friends reported her missing and found her body partially submerged in Erina Creek near The Entrance Rd on March 24.

She was last seen leaving a pub following a night out with friends.

Adrian was charged with homicide, along with 11 domestic violence matters unrelated to the murder charge and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

Audrey was a much-loved member of the Terrigal Sharks rugby league and had competed in the New Zealand half-ironman just weeks before her demise.

Authorities released an image of Adrian wishing to speak in relation to Audrey’s demise, but they didn’t believe he was involved in her death.

We are not implicating that this man was somehow involved in the incident, we have no indication of that. We’re simply hoping he might have some information to help us piece together what has happened.

After further investigation, police believed the 53-year-old and Griffin got into a physical altercation.

Audrey Griffin’s Parents Mourns The Tragic Loss

Audrey passed away at the tender age of 19, leaving behind her heartbroken parents, who cherished her beyond measure.

She was a beloved daughter, friend, and bright light in the lives of all who knew her.

Audrey was known for her kind spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for those around her.

Though her time with us was far too short, she touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and vibrant personality.

She was a former member of Gosford Water Polo’s ladies team and had joined local life saving clubs. After graduating from HSC in 2023, she attended University of Technology Sydney.

Audrey juggled her training and had a part-time job at Crown Plaza Terrigal. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her grieving parents, extended family, and friends.

While words cannot ease the pain of this loss, the Griffin family takes comfort in knowing that her light will never fade from the lives she illuminated.

Her family raised a GoFundMe fundraiser to celebrate the life of beautiful Audrey.

At Audrey’s funeral on April 11, hundreds of people wore white to honor her “bright spirit and the joy she brought into the world” while doves were released.

Kathleen Kirby’s Final Message To Audrey Griffin

Kathleen Kirby shared a close bond with her daugther, Audrey, and in her last message she told her daughter that she loved her and was proud of her.

Before leaving to join the Navy in early April, Audrey had just taken her grandma out to lunch on a trip to the Central Coast and visited her grandfather in the hospital.

Audrey was about to start her new journey when the tragic incident occurred. Her last moment was with her close friends celebrating at the Hotel Gosford in the early hours of March 23.

She left the hotel at about 2 A.M., aiming to hail a taxi after trying unsuccessfully to book an Uber.

Her friends reported her missing an hour later after they had not heard from her. Her body was discovered in the creek about 3:45 p.m.

She’d actually had a conversation with her friends saying that she was going to catch a cab soon and that she was just walking home and that she was going to call a cab. She’d obviously gone along the waterfront to try and get a cab because there were none, obviously, where she was, and she’d taken the long way home along the water, obviously to try and hail down a cab, or she would have taken a shortcut through the heart of Gosford.

Audrey was having a time of life, and she was very happy before her tragic demise.

She was absolutely amazing and the kindest soul to walk this earth.

Rest in Peace, Audrey Griffin.
