Mike Williamson, a former head football coach of Bandera High School, passed away in March 2025, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
His daughter, Taylor Smith Williamson, took to her social media to announce the demise of her beloved father, Mike Williamson.

The post states that Mike Williamson passed peacefully surrounded by his longtime wife and three kids after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
“Early this morning, our dad, Coach Williamson, to so many, passed peacefully with his 3 kids and wife by his side. He fought a brave battle with cancer. He had a servant’s heart and loved coaching and teaching so many kids over his 30 plus year career. He loved his family like no other, especially his five grandkids.”

She further shared several pictures on social media, paying tribute to her late father, Mike Williamson.
Similarly, Bandera High School Athletics also took to social media to pay tribute to their longtime head football coach.

Williamson dedicated over 30 years to teaching and coaching and remained the head football coach of Bandera High School for 10 years, where he led the Bulldogs to the 2002 Class 3A Division II State Championship, securing a 27-24 double-overtime victory over Midland Greenwood.
Many of Williamson’s loved ones send their heartfelt condolences to his family in response to his demise.
Mike Williamson is survived by his longtime wife, three daughters, Taylor Smith Williamson, Kay Williamson, and Sherrie Williamson, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and the entire family.
While very little information about his wife, including her name and profession, is available, all his daughters excel in their respective fields.
His daughter, Sherrie, graduated from Southwest Texas State University and lives with her family in Bandera, Texas.
Mike’s other daughter, Taylor Smith, works at Medina Valley ISD. She attended Bandera High School, where her father served as the head football coach, and graduated from Texas State University.
Very little information is available about his third daughter, Kay Williamson. However, her social media are filled with pictures of her late father, where she often expresses her love and pride for Mike Williamson.

The recent passing of former Bandera High School head football coach Mike Williamson is a significant loss for the Texas High School football community.
Throughout his career, Williamson was more than just a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and an inspiration to countless young athletes.
Mike dedicated his life to football. He served as an assistant coach before becoming the head coach at Uvalde High School in 1987.
Over the six years of tenure with Uvalde High, he led the Coyotes to an impressive 42-23-2 record, becoming one of the most successful coaches in UHS history.
His 1988 team, which finished 12-2, remains one of the best ever to represent Uvalde, winning a district title and advancing to the regional finals.
Before becoming head coach, Williamson also played a crucial role in developing young talent. As the UHS freshman team coach, he achieved an extraordinary 28-0-1 record, preparing players for the challenges of varsity football.
After his tenure in Uvalde, he continued his head coaching journey with Bandera High School.
Moreover, his former players often credit him with instilling in them a sense of discipline, hard work, and responsibility that stayed with them long after their playing days ended.
His legacy in football lives on in the countless athletes he coached.
