Banned for Cheering Softball Too Loud? East Coweta Kicked Me Out Over a Win They Couldn’t Handle

Sanchez says he won't be returning to East Coweta anytime soon, declaring his loyalty to "forever NEWNAN EXIT 47."

Deangelo Sanchez shared a post claiming that he was officially banned from returning to East Coweta High School following Friday night’s heated matchup between East Coweta and Newnan.

According to Sanchez, school officials informed him that his behavior on a live stream, specifically using profanity while celebrating Newnan’s win, was grounds for banning him from school grounds.

He further alleged that if he were to return, he would face arrest for criminal trespassing.

Sanchez, who has been a vocal and visible supporter of Newnan athletics for years, expressed outrage at the decision.

In his words, the punishment was excessive and motivated more by East Coweta’s frustration with losing the game than by his conduct.

He wrote,

“Y’all are that salty that Newnan High won,”

He also singled out East Coweta Principal Steve Allen and Athletic Director Lee Heaberlin, calling them “fake leaders” and accusing them of long-standing resentment toward his involvement and reputation as a fan.

Some social media users firmly sided with Sanchez, suggesting that the ban was an overreaction and rooted in the bitter rivalry between the schools.

Carlos Stewart, a graduate of the Derrider High School, wrote,

Bro they Salty because they blew that big lead. You were being a fan…Nothing to feel bad about. Support your school and let your presence be a reminder of who you are wherever you are. Always be true to yourself.

Tina Booker questioned whether the punishment would have been the same if East Coweta had won. She wrote,

I wonder if the outcome of the game was different, would you have received this letter?

Others expressed skepticism, noting that profanity directed at school officials or players could justify disciplinary action. Ryan Floyd, an apprentice electrician at Inglett & Stubbs, LLC, wrote,

Wow! This is really shocking. I didn’t get to see the whole live stream of the game or the part where you were cussing but if you were cussing in excitement, then I don’t know why they’d ban you but if you were cussing rudely at them or about them, then I can see why they’d ban you. Like most people have been saying, it’s partly because EC lost the game and when it comes to EC and NHS playing against each other, so many rivals happen and the schools just get competitive with each other, that happens every year. Don’t let this get to you and just keep your head high. This situation isn’t worth being angry about or holding grudges either.

Abby Manning, a graduate of West Georgia Technical College, encouraged Sanchez to fight the decision legally. She wrote,

Get the right lawyer Jackie Patterson will get ya back in there

Abby Manning

Others suggested that he not let the incident discourage him from supporting Newnan athletics.

Sanchez himself emphasized that he has long been tied to East Coweta’s programs, particularly softball, where he claims his name has become synonymous with the Lady Indians.

For now, Sanchez says he won’t be returning to East Coweta anytime soon, declaring his loyalty to “forever NEWNAN EXIT 47.”
