Jeremy Allen Ogden, a baseball coach, passed away at the age of 41, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and love for family.
His sports idol and personal hero, Green Jeff, also known as Uncle Jeff, inspired him every day.
Jeremy Allen Ogden was a man who understood the value of a team and thrived on the basketball court and the baseball diamond.
He loved the thrill of the game, and his deepest reward was the sense of camaraderie, a shared purpose, mutual support, and unbreakable bonds forged through striving for a common goal.
He channeled his passion into education, becoming a math teacher dedicated to unlocking the potential of every student.
Ogden believed firmly that every child could learn and thrive. Thus, he committed himself to students at all levels, from those in advanced courses to those with special needs.
His passion for teaching led him to earn a master’s degree in education. Later, he became the principal of Bell Intermediate Academy in Martinsville.
Away from the school, he remained a devoted sports fan and coached baseball in his free time. Unfortunately, his untimely passing saddened the whole Plainfield and Osgood community.
This is so heartbreaking. Nolan loved playing for Coach Jeremy. Lots of prayers for his family and those kiddos.

Jeremy Allen Ogden’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss
Jeremy Allen Ogden, a devoted father, cherished son, and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was the son of Gregg and Monica Vankirk Ogden, born on January 3, 1984, in Dearborn County, Indiana. He was 41 years old.
Ogden was a beacon of joy from his earliest days. His infectious smile and energetic spirit were a constant presence in the neighborhood.
He grew up in the close-knit community of Osgood, often seen following his parents on his bike or Power Wheels during their nightly walks through town.
He cherished his small-town roots and developed a passion for basketball and baseball, valuing the deep and lasting camaraderie that came from being part of a team.
Above all else, Ogden’s world revolved around his children: Hallee, Heath, Hanlee, and his stepdaughter, Raelyn Hayes.
He was a dedicated father who made their education and well-being his top priority. He checked their grades and offered constant guidance and support.
Ogden was a fan of his children, never missing a game, activity, or an opportunity to be present in their lives.
He possessed an infectious laugh and a kind, generous heart that drew people to him. He always lent a hand to help, listened with an ear to hear, or shared a good joke.
The baseball coach found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures and created countless fun memories with his many cousins and close friends, who were more like siblings to him.
Although he made his home in Plainfield, his heart always remained in Osgood.
He will be especially missed by his mother, Monica, who will long for his daily calls asking for advice or her cherished recipes, especially her macaroni and cheese, cheese balls, and chili, as he strived to pass those family traditions on to his own children.
Ogden leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, unwavering dedication, and abundant joy. His parents and adored children survive him.
Moreover, he shared a close bond with his grandmother, Eileen Ogden; his aunt, Cindy Bryan; and many cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gene Ogden; his grandparents, Harold and Sue Vankirk; his great-grandmother, Edna Vankirk; and his beloved Uncle Jeff.
Funeral services will be held at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Visitation is Sunday from 12:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM.
