A 15-year-old Ava Colley took her last breath in an ATV accident on Labor Day, September 1, 2025.
Born in 2010, Ava, a sophomore at Belmont High School, was riding an ATV with her family in Tishomingo County when the accident happened.
Emergency responders rushed to help, planning to airlift her to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Sadly, her condition worsened during the trip, and medics had to stop at Baptist Hospital in New Albany, where she passed away.
Likewise, her sister, Katelyn, was also hurt in the accident; however, she survived.
Ava Colley is survived by his parents, Eric Colley and Amanda Colley, and her siblings, Hunter, Mollie, and Katelyn.

She also leaves behind her grandmother, Betty Hollis Colley, and extended family members.
Following her demise, Ava’s mother, Amanda Colley, broke her silence, sharing a video of her playing piano, writing:
For my memories, my baby loved playing the piano.

While her siblings, Hunter, Mollie, and Katelyn, updated their respective Facebook profile pictures and cover pictures to one featuring her.
Ava’s grandmother, Betty Hollis Colley, also asked for prayers for her family, writing:
Would like for everyone to please keep my son Eric Colley, wife Amanda and their kids Hunter,Mollieand Katelyn and the rest of the family in your prayers.

Belmont High School shared the sad news, calling Ava a “beloved student.” Likewise, Belmont Softball Facebook page penned a brief tribute post, which reads:
Ava was a tremendous teammate and friend who made an immediate impact on everyone she came into contact with. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, teammates and coaches!

Ava’s funeral services are set for Friday, September 5, at 3 p.m. at Palestine Community Church in Paden, Mississippi.
There will be a visitation at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the same day.
Another visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, starting at 5 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church in Dennis, Mississippi. Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont is handling the arrangements.
