Legendary coach John Sanders passed away in July 2025, leaving his family and the entire community heartbroken.

As of now, the specific cause of Sanders’ passing has not been publicly disclosed.

The Entire Blue Mountain Community Is Mourning John Sanders’ Loss!

Coach John Sanders was a beloved figure in the Blue Mountain Football community, known for his decades-long commitment to shaping young athletes.

From the junior level to the senior ranks, Coach John Sanders dedicated his time and effort to building the careers of young athletes.

His coaching career left a lasting impact on the Blue Mountain program, and his influence extended far beyond the field.

Over decades, he helped build a successful on-field and off-field career.

Sadly, the Blue Mountain community is mourning the loss of Coach Sanders. Blue Mountain Football shared this tragic news, saying:

The Blue Mountain Football community lost one of our own. Coach John Sanders spent decades helping mold and shape many players into the best they could be through toughness and hardwork. He impacted many over his career and dedicated his life to helping others and giving back. We extend our condolences to the Sanders family and thank them for letting him be apart of the success we had over the years here at Blue Mountain. Memorial Services and Viewing will be held Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 at Hamilton Breiner Funeral Home in Orwigsburg.

His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him. One of his former students recalled the moment with the coach and said:

Coach Sanders had a profound impact on my football journey, both as a player and later as a coach. He always seemed to know exactly what to say, whether it came through tough love or heartfelt motivation. Coach truly bled Blue and White. Rest easy, Coach.

Likewise, another close family friend highlighted the deep personal bond with Coach and his wife, saying:

Such a wonderful man, father and coach! I have so many awesome and funny memories of growing up and he and his wife at our house. He was one in a million and a true asset to our BM community. You will be missed ny so many.

Despite this, his family remains private at this difficult time, choosing to mourn quietly and surrounded by close loved ones.

Memorial Services and Viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hamilton Breiner Funeral Home in Orwigsburg.
