Canadian Professional Ice Hockey Player Bobby Hull Had A Lengthy Relationship With His First Wife, But His Second Marriage With His Wife Was Cut Short Soon

A hockey legend on the rink, Bobby Hull’s personal life, including his wives and his children, reflects a complex legacy.

Bobby Hull, often called “The Golden Jet,” made a huge name in hockey.

Known for his incredible speed and powerful slapshot, he became one of the most famous players of his time.

His career highlights include winning the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1961 and signing a $1 million contract with the WHA’s Winnipeg Jets- that deal changed professional hockey forever.

But Bobby’s life had more ups and downs outside the rink.

His relationships, especially his marriages and children, have also been a part of his story.

Bobby Hull Was Married To Two Wives And Had Five Children

Bobby first married Joanne McKay in 1960.

She was a skilled figure skater and seemed like a great match for a rising hockey star.

Together, they had five children—Brett, Bart, Bobby Jr., Blake, and Michelle. However, their relationship didn’t last long and ended in 1970.

Joanne reportedly received a significant settlement of $640,000, about half of Hull’s net worth then.

After that, Bobby married again! In 1972, he wed Deborah Helmick.

This marriage was much shorter, ending just two years later in 1974.

What stands out is how Bobby Hull’s children have carried the family name forward in their ways.

Brett Hull, for example, followed in his dad’s footsteps.

He became a hockey star in his own right, winning two Stanley Cups and earning a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Bart Hull chose a different path, playing professional football in the CFL and showing athletic talent in a completely new field.

Blake, on the other hand, leaned into writing. On Instagram, he describes himself as “somewhat of a book writer” and promotes his work with a sense of humor.

Bobby Hull Jr., on the other hand, leads a low-key life and has kept things very private.

Just like Bobby, little is known about Michelle’s personal and professional life.

Nonetheless, the Hull children have continued to carry the family name forward through their diverse careers and interests.

Despite Bobby Hull’s complex legacy, his impact on hockey remains undeniable.

Moreover, his children’s accomplishments ensure that the Hull name is still part of conversations today.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Hull won the Hart Trophy twice, in 1965 and 1966.
  • He scored over 600 career goals.
  • He entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.
