21 Year Old Former Boerne Hs Athlete Koby Hunter Tragically Died in Angel Fire Resort Incident, Leaving Behind His Mother, Kaci Hunter, and Three Siblings!

A 21-year-old, Koby Hunter, a former athlete from Boerne High School, tragically lost his life in a snowboarding accident at Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on February 8, 2025, around 11 a.m. on the “Hully Gully” ski run. According to resort officials, emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene.

He was hurriedly taken by ambulance to the Colfax County Airport, where he was set to be airlifted to a hospital in Albuquerque.

Nonetheless, despite their best efforts, Koby was pronounced deceased before he could be transported to a hospital. Meanwhile, the cause and manner of his death are still pending an autopsy.

Angel Fire Resort CEO John Kitts expressed the community’s grief in a statement,

Angel Fire Resort and the entire Angel Fire community extend our deepest sympathies and support to the family and friends of our guest at this difficult time.

Boerne High School Boys Basketball team also offered condolences in a touching Facebook post, mourning the loss of their former teammate.

They responded to his tragic passing in a Facebook post, “Our prayers are with the Hunter family. Rest in peace, Koby.”

Hunter, 21, was a beloved Boerne High School community member, where he excelled as both a football tight end and basketball player.

The 21-year-old Koby Hunter tragically passed away, leaving behind his mother, Kaci Kohls Hunter, and three siblings: brother Kade Hunter, sisters Kaylee James and Kyra Hunter.

Meanwhile, little to no information about Koby Hunter’s father is available.

The exclusive news of Koby’s passing was conveyed by his aunt, Kayla Kohls Rathmann, who received the information from her sister, Kaci, Koby’s mother.

On February 9, 2025, she wrote in a Facebook post,

At the request of my sister, Kaci, she wanted me to let everyone know that Koby succumbed to his injuries. We are all heartbroken and devastated. My beautiful sister is living my worst nightmare. Please keep her and all the family in your prayers. Thank you to everyone who prayed this morning.

Whereas his mother, Kaci Hunter, has yet to break the silence on his tragic passing.

Koby Hunter’s brother, Kade Hunter, is married to London Reeh Hunter. He studied Kinesiology at College Hill from 2018 to 2020.

Kade played baseball, and in 2022, he and his baseball team received their custom-made Southland Conference Champion rings.

Kade works at New House in Sisterdale and Slabkat. He is engaged in grunt work for a concrete business.

Previously, he worked as a customer sales associate at Jiffy Lube from August 2017 until January 2018. Similarly, he was a landscaper at Neighborhood in Leon Springs.

Koby’s sister, Kaylee, is also already married. She tied the knot in October 2020. Kaylee is a photographer.

Previously, she worked as a Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator at MiMutual Mortgage.

Kaci dedicated nearly two decades, 19 to be precise, of her career to teaching math and science. She previously taught at Boerne ISD and is a junior high math teacher at SCISD.

Transitioning from education to finance, Kaci now specializes in divorce lending, providing crucial support to clients navigating the complexities of borrowing during a divorce.

She helps clients navigate the complex financial and real estate challenges during divorce proceedings.

Growing up on a ranch in West Texas, Kaci pursued her academic journey at Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University.
