Longtime Booker T. Washington High School coach and alumnus, Terrance Winn, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the age of 59 years old.
From what his family shared, it happened right there in Shreveport, where he’d spent most of his life working and raising his own. No one saw it coming, and it’s hit everyone hard.
Terence Winn leaves behind his daughter, Juaneshia R. Winn; his brother, Mark Winn; his grandson, Jaylen; and his extended family.
Following his sudden passing, many people have been sharing kind words and offering support for his daughter, Juaneshia, on social media.
Jo Nacole, Juaneshia’s cousin, wrote:
When I tell you my heart hurts and I tried to avoid getting on here lord have mercy and to my cuzzin Juaneshia R. Winn I love you so much 😓😓 get your rest unc job well done out here we love you hug my cuzzin for 😪😪

Terence Winn began teaching at Booker T. Washington High School a long time ago, and by this year, he was approaching his 33rd year there.
On top of teaching, he coached for over 30 years, focusing on basketball and football.
Winn led the girls’ basketball team as head coach and handled special teams for the football squad. Likewise, over the years, he received several notable honors for his work thanks to his skills and contributions.
Terence Winn was named Teacher of the Year at the school, was a finalist for Caddo Parish Teacher of the Year, and in 2015, he received the Caddo Red Apple Award.

In March 2023, Winn earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from Booker T. Washington High School for his over 3 decades of contribution.
Juaneshia, proud of her father’s achievement, took to her Facebook to share her happiness and gratitude to the high school, writing:
Whew Chile. My heart is so full right now. I want to thank the faculty, staff, student body of Booker T. Washington HS and my Soror Crystal Tate-Barnes for honoring my daddy. Y’all just don’t understand how much that man loves BTDubbb.
She also added, “he deserves every bit of it.”
Besides, Juaneshia, her son, Jaylen, also shared a close bond with her father.

Juaneshia R. Winn has built a solid career in education, making a name for herself in Shreveport, Louisiana, just like her dad, Coach Terence Winn.
She’s been working in the Caddo Parish School System since 2010, putting in 16 years so far, with the last four as a school counselor.
Right now, she’s at Huntington High School, helping seniors figure out their next steps and get ready to graduate.
She attended Louisiana State University-Shreveport to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Later, she obtained her Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling from Louisiana Tech University between 2011 and 2013.
Outside of work, she’s all about sports, cheering for teams and staying active, and she’s also part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
