Known by the nickname “the Buffalo,” Derrick Richard White and his wife, Hannah Schneider, crossed paths when they were students at the University of Colorado in 2015.
He began his collegiate basketball career playing three years in Division II with the UCCS Mountain Lions before transferring to the Division I Colorado Buffaloes for his senior year.
Derrick White was drafted 29th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2017 NBA Draft.
He joined the Boston Celtics in February 2022 and became a key player, helping them reach the NBA Finals that year.
In 2024, White won his first NBA championship with the Celtics and a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team.
Hannah Stood By Derrick’s Side From His Early College Basketball Days To His Professional Journey In The NBA
Hannah Schneider attended Chaparral High School in Parker, near Derrick White’s hometown, but she is from Boulder, Colorado.
On the other hand, White attended Legend High School, which is quite near Hannah’s high school.
The couple first met at the University of Colorado—Colorado Springs before White transferred to Boulder for his senior year.
White and Schneider were dating by September 2015, as seen by an Instagram photo by Derrick, expressing that he loves her.
Her support has been instrumental in Derrick’s career since 2015, including his trade to the Boston Celtics and subsequent successes.
They became engaged in September 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
When Derrick proposed to Hannah, White decorated a rooftop deck with pink and blue balloons and a banner that read, “Will You Marry Me?”
He posted a picture of them on the special day with the caption,
“Till the end.”
Then they married on August 28, 2021, in a ceremony attended by close family and friends, including some of White’s former Spurs teammates.
Regarding Hannah’s career, very little is known about her professional life apart from her brief stint as an animal hospital receptionist.
According to Hannah’s LinkedIn profile, she worked at Northwest Animal Hospital from August 2014 to May 2015.
Hannah maintains a low public profile and has a private Instagram handle, @thehannahleewhite.
Derrick White and Hannah Schneider are Proud Parents of Two Kids
The couple has two sons together. Hendrix James was born in May 2022 when the Celtics played the Miami Heat in the ECF.
Their second son, Daxton, was born in 2023, arriving a bit earlier than anticipated.
This unexpected timing meant White had to catch a spontaneous flight, missing the delivery but still sharing in the joy through photos and calls.
In an interview with MassLive regarding his first-born son, Derrick said,
“He’s already changed our lives so it’s been crazy, just sitting with him watching the game, cheering us on from home. It was cool and just one of those moments I’ll have forever.”
He also said he loves watching his son all the time, even if he can’t get enough sleep.
Hannah is crucial in balancing family life, especially given Derrick’s demanding NBA schedule.
She helps maintain family connections through technology like FaceTime during his away games, ensuring Derrick remains involved in their children’s lives.
