Brampton Community Mourns the Loss of Football Player Dayne Reid

While the exact cause of Dayne Reid is not disclosed publicly yet, what is known is that he died at the age of 18.

Following his tragic demise, his mother, Simone Murrel, organized a fundraising campaign on a GoFundMe page.

In the fundraising post, his mother, Simone Murrel, revealed that her son was a devoted football player and a brother to many. In the post, she writes:

Dayne also loved football. Through sport, he found structure, physical fitness, and a strong sense of brotherhood that played such a meaningful role in shaping the young man he was becoming.

While his death has brought deep grief to his parents and the community, his mother has remained strong and continues to help others through her son’s memory.

The funds collected through the campaign will help sponsor youth who cannot afford to participate in organized sports, particularly football.

Additionally, it will also assist students as they transition into post-secondary education.

Dayne Reid’s mother, Simone, aims to ensure that young players can access the mentorship, positive role models, and sense of community that played such a crucial role in Dayne’s life.

As of now, Dayne’s parents have not scheduled a public funeral service. However, the GoFundMe campaign suggests that the family will likely ensure the service takes place by December 27, 2025.

While his parents and the community mourn this tragic loss, we also extend our heartfelt condolences to Dayne’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

Rest in Peace, Young Soul!
