Late Brian Ellis Was a Star Quarterback On The Football Team!

Brian Ellis, whose full name was James Brian Ellis, was a 53-year-old man born on March 25, 1971.

While some sources mentioned that Brian was a father, there isn’t much detailed information about his wife, children, or parents in the public domain.

He hailed from Clayton County, Georgia, and attended the Naval Academy in 1989 and graduated in 1994.

During his time at the Naval Academy, he was a varsity football player, recruited to play under former head coach Elliot Uzelac.

Ellis played 22 games for the Navy Midshipmen during the 1991 and 1992 college football seasons.

He was the backup quarterback but started a few games when the starting quarterback, Jim Kubiak, was injured.

During that time, he suffered a significant injury when he fractured his jaw in a game against Boston College.

His jaw was wired shut for about two months but he made it back to play in the last game of the year against Army.

Although he was the backup QB during his junior and senior years, he was known for his dedication and hard work.

On the other hand, Ellis dedicated 22 years of his life to serving in the Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot, flying the Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion, and later becoming a flight instructor.

He retired from the Marine Corps in 2015 with the rank of lieutenant colonel and subsequently worked for Deloitte. Ellis resided in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Tragically, he lost his life in a mid-air collision when he was returning home from Kansas after a work trip.

The crash occurred near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport when American Airlines Flight 5342, which he was aboard, collided with an Army helicopter.

The crash occurred as the airliner attempted to land near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

While at the Naval Academy, Ellis formed a close bond with three friends, who all shared heartfelt tributes to Brian Ellis following the tragic crash.

John Schofield, a spokesman for the Naval Academy Alumni Association, expressed deep condolences, saying,

Our hearts go out to all those who experienced loss through this devastating event. Among those on board was one of our own, Brian Ellis, a former Navy football player and proud graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
