In March 2022, the Dallas Cowboys hired him as a consultant, and by 2025, he had stepped into the role of head coach.
Despite his busy schedule, Brian keeps his kids close to his heart.
In early October 2025, he shared a sweet moment when Sutton and Savannah asked how he was handling his new play-calling duties.
With a laugh, he responded with the slang term “6-7,” surprising them that their 51-year-old dad was in on the lingo.
Sutton Schottenheimer, Brian’s son, has grown up immersed in the world of football.
Now in his early 20s, Sutton has been spotted at training camps with his dad, including during Brian’s time with the Seahawks.
Beyond the field, Sutton has made his father proud by getting involved in meaningful causes, like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Students of the Year” campaign to fight cancer.
The two share a special bond, including a unique tradition of getting tattoos together.
It all started when Sutton was too young to get inked on his own in Tennessee, so Brian joined him.
Since then, they’ve kept the tradition alive. Brian even has tattoos marking his family’s birthdays: Sutton’s on the 27th, Savannah’s on the 19th, and Gemmi’s on the 17th.
Savannah Schottenheimer, also known as Sassy, has stepped into the public eye.
She graduated from Christ Presbyterian Academy in May 2025 and is now committed to Auburn University.
Active on social media, Savannah loves showing off her Dallas Cowboys spirit.
She once dressed up as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader for Halloween, and in January 2025, she turned heads during her father’s introductory press conference with the Cowboys.
As a devoted Christian, Savannah spends her time with family and friends, traveling, shopping, and volunteering with kids and families in need.
Her passion for helping others is a big part of who she is.
Now, with Sutton and Savannah grown, they celebrate his milestones with him, like enjoying pizza and drinks after his first win as the Cowboys’ head coach.
Even with a high-profile job, Brian and Gemmi work hard to shield their family from the public eye.
They prioritize faith, family, and football, values Brian learned from his own parents. While Sutton and Savannah take an interest in their dad’s coaching world, Brian makes sure they know they’re his top priority.
As he leads the Cowboys, his role as a loving father to his kids remains his greatest source of pride.
