On October 25, 2024, the University of South Dakota women’s basketball team mourned the demise of 30-year-old Bridget Schumacher, one of its best former players.

Posting sad news on its social media page early at 4:53 AM, the team wrote,

We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Coyote student-athlete Bridget (Arens) Schumacher. Please keep Bridget’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

Later, many paid tribute to Bridget Schumacher, praising her for who she was. Her coach, Amy Williams, posted a tweet on her Twitter handle writing,

Devastated by the loss of Bridget Arens Schumacher. I was blessed to coach her for 3 years at USD and she was the best of the best! An absolute Warrior on the court and the most amazing young lady off the court! She loved big and was loved even bigger! RIP Bridget. 💔🙏

Similarly, many of her colleagues and friends also remembered her as an inspiration and an absolute best of the best person via social media handles like Facebook and Twitter.

The South Dakota University alum and her fellow player Margaret Joan took to her Facebook to pay tribute to Bridget, writing a lengthy caption. She wrote,

I have been trying to wrap my ahead around this news and all I can think of is that God needed you more. I had the honor and privilege of fighting alongside Bridget Schumacher on the basketball court at USD for several years……

Well, former USD player Bridget Schumacher was active on her Facebook until October 23, but when her passing news suddenly emerged about a week later, many of her admirers were curious about what had happened to her.

While her grieving family hasn’t revealed the cause of her demise, her obituary posted at Wintz Funeral Home mentioned her passing as ‘unexpected.’

Bridget Rose Schumacher, age 30, of Crofton, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.

Meanwhile, some online sources are linking Bridget Schumacher’s demise to an accident, but the reports are not authentic, at least not until we are writing this article.

Bridget Schumacher Was Married With Her Husband, Taylor Schumacher, And Had Four Children

According to information on her Facebook, Bridget had been happily married to her lover-turned-husband, Taylor Schumacher, since June 2018.

The couple welcomed four children from their marriage: three sons and a daughter. His eldest son is Taylor, born a year after their marriage; the middle son, Briggs Joseph, arrived in June 2020; and Cooper Duane, born in December 2021.

Likewise, her youngest daughter appears to have been born in early 2024. All four of her children are still very young, and Bridget is no longer alive to raise them and watch them grow.

Her husband, Taylor, a Bloomfield native who graduated from Briar Cliff University, is now alone to look after their adorable kids.
