Buddy was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 40-year-old Jennifer Blong from St. Augustine.
This information is based on a Florida State Police report. Notably, the Teevens family had a residence near the location of the accident.
Blong was driving without insurance and at an estimated speed of around 50 mph. However, it’s worth mentioning that she was not subjected to a blood-alcohol test by the police.
In the report, Buddy was cited for “failure to yield the right of way.”
Furthermore, the report provides details about the coach’s position during the incident, noting that he was riding his bicycle perpendicular to the flow of automotive traffic and outside of any designated crossing area.
