Buffalo Bills punter Sam Martin lives miles away from his parents, Debbie and Tom Martin, who reside in Florida. The NFL player gets his athletic gene from his dad, who previously played football in his heyday.
Martin, 34, remains unmarried but is a happy dog dad to Leo, a Labradoodle.
The punter hasn’t shared much about his personal life despite having played in the NFL for 12 seasons.
There was a year when the football player dated the Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, which grabbed media attention. But the two broke up before they could start dominating headlines.
Martin has been with the Bills since 2022 and signed a three-year contract worth $7.5 million on March 13, 2023.
The NFL veteran saw limited time against his former side, the Broncos, in the NFL Wild Card round.
The Bills dominated the game, posting a scoreline of 31-7, with Martin making one punt for 45 yards.
The punter would want to see the field against the Ravens on Monday night in the AFC Divisional Round.
Led by star quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills are hoping to put the heartbreaks of the past behind them and secure the first-ever Super Bowl in the franchise’s history.
Sam Martin’s Parents, Debbie, And Tom Are Residents of Florida
Previously, Sam Martin wanted his parents, Debbie and Tom, to come to Manhattan to watch a Broadway show.
The NFL player bought tickets to the Broadway show “The Music Man” on May 8, 2022.
It was a gift from Martin to his parents and especially to his mom, as May 8 was Mother’s Day.
Unfortunately, Debbie and Tom, who were living in Florida, couldn’t make it, but they didn’t let the ticket go to waste.
The couple told their son to donate the ticket to another family.
Sam quickly got into the act and called his agent, Sean Kiernan of Athlete’s First, to help him find a charitable organization.
With Kiernan’s help, Sam got in touch with Wind of the Spirt, an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of immigrants in New York City.
The 9News reported that the tickets went to a single mother and her daughter.
Sam’s father, Tom Martin, was a three-sport athlete at Central Michigan University.
His mom, Debbie Martin, is available on Facebook and has shared a few family posts.
As Sam’s Mother’s Day 2022 gift didn’t quite work out, the NFL player took his mom for a helicopter ride over Niagara on Mother’s Day 2023.
Sam Martin’s Two Sisters Are Former Soccer Players
The punter isn’t the only child of his parents and has two older sisters, Alice and Lucy Martin.
Alice’s name is available on the 2003 Furman Women’s Soccer Roster.
The oldest of the three kids, Alice played as a midfielder, and it looks like the three siblings graduated from Starrs Mill High School.
Alice is available on Facebook, but her last post was in 2015 when she was with her husband.
The Martin family’s middle child, Lucy, followed in her older sister’s footsteps.
After graduating from Starrs Mill High School with a 4.0 GPA, Lucy committed to LSU.
While at Starrs Mill, Lucy was named the 2005 Georgia 5A High School Player of the Year, the 2005 Atlanta Journal-Constitution All-State team, and the Team MVP.
But even before she could kick a ball with the LSU side, Lucy suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
A year later, she transferred to Furman University. The injury might’ve derailed Lucy’s career as there are no details of her playing soccer at Furman.
After graduating from Furman, Lucy received her Master of Physical Assistant degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
Since 2013, she has been working as a Physician Assistant at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Like her older sister, Lucy is available on Facebook but hasn’t shared a single post in the past decade.
The last post on her Facebook handle is a photo from her wedding day in April 2014 with Patrick Murray.
