Buffalo, NY, Junior Dragster Maxton Williams Dies at the Age of 14 Battling Cancer with Bravery for Months!

Maxton Williams, a 14-year-old Junior Dragster racer from Buffalo, New York, tragically passed away in October 2025.

Maxton Williams, affectionately known as MAX, was battling a rare and aggressive brain cancer known as DIPG.

According to his friends and family, Max was diagnosed with cancer on January 14, 2025. He fought the battle with great bravery, never once complaining or asking, ‘Why me?

Born on a bright day in 2010, Maxton Williams was raised by his parents, Josh and Nicole Williams, in Buffalo, New York.

Max grew up surrounded by a loving family and a supportive community. Despite battling cancer at a young age, his father said, “Racing is the one thing he can still do while fighting this monster.”

Empire Dragway Racers was where Max used to race from a young age, and while battling his cancer, the organization dedicated the 2025 Junior Dragster Season to honor his unshakeable courage.

Not just his friends and family, Max’s brave fight against cancer inspired and encouraged many in the community.

Following his passing on October 7, many people from the community who knew Max shared their sorrow through social media posts and comments.

One user on Facebook who knew Max and his mother wrote a heartfelt message expressing their grief.

He touched our entire Community. His ripples of love, kindness and light will forever be flowing. Maxton lives in all of us and we are so blessed to have known him. Nicole, I continue to be so heartbroken for you all. Maxton was given to you as a gift to love and cherish just as you did so perfectly and completely . God knew he needed YOU as his Mom.

While Max touched the lives of many at such a young age with his bravery, he is now remembered by many and is survived by his parents.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4–8 PM on Saturday, October 11th, at the Urban-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, located at 7540 Clinton St., Elma.

A celebration of Maxton’s life will be held at 11 AM on Sunday, October 12th, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Wales Center.
