Lauren Turner, a member of the CSUF women’s soccer team, is in the ICU battling severe head trauma after being hit by a white box truck while driving an electric scooter.
She was driving with her friend, Ashlyn Gwynn, at the intersection of Associated Road and Yorba Linda Boulevard on September 27, 2025.
Lauren Turner graduated from Arnold O. Beckman High School in the spring of 2024 as a four-year letter winner with the women’s soccer team.
Her talent and leadership are undeniable on the soccer field, and she served as team captain for both her junior and senior years.
Her skills earned her a spot on the All-Conference second team twice, and she was named her team’s MVP as a junior.
Moreover, she was a scholar-athlete all four years and played club soccer for Slammers HB Køge in the ECNL, under the guidance of head coaches Cheyne Gordon and Monique Segovia.
Lauren committed to Cal State Fullerton, where she plans to pursue a degree in Kinesiology.
Lauren Turner Injured in Scooter Accident
Two Cal State Fullerton students and women’s soccer players are hospitalized in critical condition after a serious traffic collision on Thursday, September 27.
Lauren Turner and Ashlyn Gwynn, both 19, were riding electric scooters southbound on Associated Road when they were struck by a white Ford box truck at the intersection of Yorba Linda Boulevard.
The cause of the accident, which occurred at around 7:00 p.m., is still under review.
According to the Fullerton Police Department, the driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Lauren and Ashlyn were transported to a local trauma center by the Fullerton Fire Department. In an update from her family, Lauren is in the ICU battling severe head trauma.
The families of both victims have created GoFundMe campaigns, in conjunction with CSUF Athletics, to help cover medical expenses and ongoing care.
In a fundraising message, the Turner family described Lauren as a beautiful, bright, strong, and determined young woman, and asked for prayers and support during this difficult time.
Lauren is one of the toughest people, and seeing her in this condition saddened the family.
Every donation will go directly toward helping the family cover her medical expenses, ongoing care, and any other needs that arise as she fights her way through recovery.
The Turner family requests the strength and support she needs to heal.
