Her kindness, immense talent, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a part of the studio and her spirit woven into its walls and community.

Who could’ve ever imagined I’d have to say goodbye to you now, Destiny. My best friend, my light, my consistency… what am I supposed to do going forward? There were so many plans that we’ve talked about over the last 7 years.

The studio hasn’t shared specific details out of respect for Destiny’s family’s privacy during this profoundly difficult time.

She is of mixed Asian, Black, White, and multiracial ethnicity and brought a unique and vibrant presence to the stage.

Destiny is survived by her heartbroken parents and her partner, Christian Degeneffe, with whom she had shared her life since February 2023.

Life is so unfair, you never deserved this. You were only 19, and we had planned our whole life out together. I’ll never understand why God called you home so soon, but I know you’re at peace now, looking down on me and everyone you loved. The three years we were together were the best three years of my life. You were my biggest motivation, and I’ll continue to live every day to make you proud. I know I’ll see you again one day. I love you so much, Destiny.

Christian Degeneffe

Deborah Perez, the owner of By Your Side Dance Studio, has established a GoFundMe on behalf of Destiny’s parents to support them through this unimaginable time.

Moreover, she will create a dedicated space within the studio for all who knew and loved Destiny to leave a note, a flower, or a cherished memory in her honor.

Destiny’s light was extinguished far too soon, but the impression she left on her family, her friends, and her entire dance community will forever remain.
