Carl Paul Nassib, a former American football outside linebacker, was born April 12, 1993.  He played in the NFL for seven seasons and recently announced his retirement.

Nassib was born in the Pennsylvania town of West Chester. He was a three-year letterman in football at Malvern Preparatory School in Malvern.

The player also earned letters in basketball twice and track and field three times. 

He enrolled at Penn State University and became a walk-on for the Nittany Lions in 2011.

The Cleveland Browns picked Nassib with the 65th selection in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Furthermore, Nassid was the first active NFL player in history to come out as gay. The player is an advocate of LGBTQA+ rights and mental health.

During her high school years at Villa Maria Academy, she excelled as a volleyball player, showcasing her passion for sports.

She got married to her loving husband, Brian, on the year 2018. Paige played volleyball like her sister Carey in the same school.

On September 6, 2023, Carl Nassib, the first NFL player to come out as gay, officially announced his retirement from the sport via an Instagram post captioned “Next Chapter.”

In his heartfelt message, Nassib expressed profound gratitude to the world of sports, his loyal fans, his faith, and his loving family.

He reflected on his decision to hang up his helmet, recognizing that it was time for him to embark on a new journey.

Carl’s post-retirement plans revolve around his company, Rayze, a social media platform dedicated to connecting non-profit organizations with the next generation of philanthropists.

This new venture underscores his commitment to positively impacting society beyond the football field.

Notably, Nassib made headlines in the Pride Month of 2021 when he courageously came out as gay through a statement shared on his Instagram.

Alongside this announcement, he pledged to donate $100,000 to The Trevor Project, an organization focused on crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ adolescents.

At the time, he was playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, but he has since retired as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
