It’s all about family & baseball for the MLB shortstop Carlos Correa & his younger brother Jean. The Puerto Rico native brothers have made their parents & younger sister, Leibysand, proud.
Both of the Correa brothers have had an association with the MLB team Houston Astros at one point.
Jean Carlos Correa is a minor league player for the Astros’ double-A affiliate team Corpus Christi Hooks.
On the other, his big bro Carlos Javier plays for the Minnesota Twins of the MLB after his trade from the Houston Astros in 2021.
The MLB star, who goes by the birth name Carlos Javier Correa Oppenheimer Jr., stated that he found the baseball career as a ticket to take his family out of poverty.
Raised in a small house in a fishing village in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, his family had to struggle for a livelihood.
After discovering Correa’s potential in baseball, his father used to train him, managing time from his odd jobs. And the baseball player’s mother, who also worked, used to sell foods to cover extra expenses for his games & travel.
The sacrifice & determination came fruitful as Carlos Javier Correa is the highest-paid infielder with an annual average salary of $35.1 million, surpassing Anthony Rendon‘s $35 million.
All thanks to his 6-year, $200 million contract with the Minnesota Twins (signed on January 15, 2023).
