Growing up there, he fell in love with the outdoors, zipping around on four-wheelers, casting lines for fish, and riding horses through the hills.

He earned a college degree from Southern Utah University, landed a full-time job as a national accounts specialist at Heritage Landscape Supply Group, Inc., and even owns his own home.

Married on October 20, 2016, after meeting in Utah, Marci has been Carter’s partner in every sense through moves, careers, and the joys of raising three energetic kids: Bonnie Jean, Braxton, and their youngest, whose boundless energy keeps the house buzzing.
Originally from Salt Lake City, Marci built her own path before family life took center stage.
She taught at ABC Great Beginning in Murray, Utah, from 2004 to 2015, shaping young minds with patience and creativity.
Before that, she served as a banquet server for four years at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, where her warm smile likely made every event feel like a gathering of friends.
These days, Marci pours that same energy into being the rock of the Crosland home in Wickenburg.
She’s the one shuttling the kids to baseball games, school drop-offs, karate classes, and everywhere in between.
With Carter’s motorized wheelchair in tow, simple outings turn into logistics puzzles, but Marci tackles them with heroic grace.

The Croslands’ journey to Wickenburg began in August 2021, when Carter, Marci, and their two young children packed up from Utah for a fresh start in the desert town.
It didn’t take long for them to make waves. Carter dove right into coaching youth football for 11- and 12-year-olds, his passion for the game lighting up practices.
By June 2022, that energy earned him a spot on the Wickenburg High staff as running backs and linebackers coach.
The Arizona Republic spotlighted him that year, capturing how this limb-different leader proved there’s no playbook for limits.
Even then, Carter commuted 30 to 40 minutes each way in his custom wheelchair, arriving early to run drills and share wisdom that went beyond X’s and O’s.

Two years ago, in 2023, Carter accepted the head football job at 1A Kearny Ray, a significant leap that had the community buzzing.
However, after deep reflection, he stepped back, prioritizing his family’s needs and his own health.
“My heart goes out to Carter, Marci, and their children,” Ray athletic director Louie Armenta said at the time, underscoring the family’s tight-knit bond.
That choice spoke volumes about Carter’s values. He’s a devoted husband and father first, always putting Marci and the kids in the end zone.
Now, as interim head coach, Carter faces his biggest challenge yet: turning around a winless season while embodying the resilience he teaches.
