The town of Moberly, Missouri, is mourning the loss of beloved football coach and teacher Chad Hult, who passed away on July 1, 2025.
Chad’s sudden passing has left a sadness in the hearts of his family, friends, students, and the entire community.
While the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed, numerous people expressed their love and shared heartfelt memories of him, reflecting the significant impact he had on their lives.
Chad Hult was a true Missouri native, born to Lisa and David Hult and raised alongside his sister, Anne-Marie Hult, in Moberly.
Growing up, Chad was known for his quiet sense of humor and kind heart, traits that remained with him throughout his life.
As a student at Moberly Senior High School, he excelled both in academics and athletics, particularly on the football field.
His passion for the sport led him to Graceland University, where he played college football and earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
Later, he furthered his education with a master’s degree from Central Methodist University, setting the stage for a career that would blend his love for football with his commitment to shaping young lives.
A Coaching Career Marked By Dedication
Chad’s journey in coaching began after his college football days at Graceland and Central Methodist.
His first role was as an assistant coach at Hallsville, where he spent one season before joining the staff at Eldon High School in 2012 under head coach Shannon Jolley.
As the quarterbacks coach, Chad made an immediate impact. That year, the Eldon Mustangs won a district championship, a memory Chad cherished as a defining moment in his career.
Over the years, Chad worked his way up to offensive coordinator at Eldon, where he learned valuable lessons about leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.

In 2016, he shared his dream of one day becoming a head coach, a goal he achieved in 2018 when he was named the head football coach at Eldon High School, following five years as an assistant.
His time at Eldon was marked by his ability to connect with players, teaching them not just about football but about life.
In 2023, Chad took on a new challenge as the varsity football coach for the Versailles Tigers.
His tenure there was brief, as he was succeeded by assistant coach Dusty Daniels in 2024.
Despite the short time, Chad’s influence on the Versailles team was profound, as he poured his heart into every practice and game.
Beyond the football field, Chad was a devoted husband and father.
He was married to Kayla Hult, a respected vice president and commercial loan officer, and together they raised their daughter, Andi Hult.
Chad’s family was his anchor, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Whether it was cheering for Andi or sharing quiet moments with Kayla, Chad’s love for his family was evident to all who knew him.
His sister, Anne-Marie, and parents, Lisa and David, were also central to his life.
The Hult family’s close bond was a source of strength for Chad, and their grief now is shared by a community that loved him dearly.
Friends and extended family members, including Adam Hult, Robert Hult, Crystal Hutton, and Karen Hult, have been named in heartfelt tributes, with calls for prayers and support as they navigate this devastating loss.
Chad Hult Has Left A Lasting Impact on Young Lives
Chad Hult was more than a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a friend.
His ability to transform young athletes into confident, respectful individuals left a mark on the communities of Eldon and Versailles.
Tributes from those who knew him show a man who cared deeply about his players and their futures.
Michael Brandt, a parent of one of Chad’s players, shared a moving story about how Chad took his son Dawson under his wing as a sophomore.
Dawson, who had never played quarterback before, learned to throw a perfect spiral and even completed a 67-yard touchdown pass under Chad’s guidance.
More importantly, Brandt noted, Chad taught Dawson how to be a respectful young man and a leader.
Brandt wrote:
“Chad did that for so many young men over the years. He was so much more than a football coach. His impact on this world will never be forgotten and I will forever be grateful for what he did for not just Dawson but also for Jasey and Kierstin and so many other young people.
