Charles Barkley Shares a Strong Bond With His Only Kid, Christiana, Who Excels As A Journalist

Charles Wade Barkley and his wife, Maureen, welcomed their only child, Christiana Barkley, in 1989, the same year they exchanged vows.

He is a former professional basketball player widely regarded as one of the most dominant power forwards in NBA history.

Born on February 20, 1963, in Leeds, Alabama, he played for various teams during his 16-year career, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets.

He was an 11-time NBA All-Star and was named the NBA All-Star Game MVP in 1991.

Charles Barkley Named His Daughter Christiana After A Delaware Shopping Mall

He has been married to Maureen Blumhardt since 1989. They met in the late 1980s when Barkley played for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The couple has one daughter, Christiana Barkley, born in 1989, the same year they married.

One of the interesting facts is that Charles named his daughter after the Christiana Mall in Delaware.

He revealed this amusing fact during an episode of his podcast, “The Steam Room,” saying he liked the mall and decided to name his daughter after it.

As he became a father, in an interview on In Depth With Graham Bensinger, he reflected on his upbringing and how it influenced his direction toward parenting.

Additionally, he mentioned that his relationship with his father, Frank, was strained, and they lost touch for many years.

This experience made him determined to be a good father to his daughter, and he stated:

“I want to be a good father, I try to do the best I can. It’s been difficult at times because you’re always traveling. But I think she’s a great kid. She’s a great kid.”

Likewise, he has expressed his pride in his daughter and enjoys seeing her build her own home.

He said,

“I really appreciate my daughter becoming a mom. Watching her do all the mom stuff. So other than holding that little man myself, watching her become a mom is just as special.”

Charles has always been private about his family, but it’s crystal clear that they mean a lot to him.

He joined Instagram in March 2024 for business purposes but has never posted anything about his family in recent days.

Christiana Is A Proud Mother Of Her Two Kids

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she is a journalist and senior account manager.

She attended Columbia University, where she graduated with a degree in journalism and later earned a Master’s degree in Journalism.

Christiana works at The Koppelman Group as a senior account manager and director of writing.

Additionally, she is involved with the non-profit organization Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, which helps women improve their lives through education and career skills.

When it comes to her marital endeavors, she is married to Ilya Hoffman, the founder of DemandByte, a marketing technology company.

They met during a basketball game in 2016 in Manhattan and hit it off from there.

The couple got married in March 2021 in Scottsdale, Arizona. They welcomed their first child, Henry, early in 2022 and had their second child, a daughter, Charlie Eliza, later in 2023.

They are dedicated parents and seem to be enjoying their family life together.
