James W Ryan Was A Standout Player On The BHS Football Team!
James W. Ryan, affectionately known as “Jimmy” by those closest to him, was a beloved student-athlete and a member of Charles W. Baker High School’s Class of 2025.
Born on February 28, 2007, Jimmy grew up in Baldwinsville, New York, where he became a committed football player, proudly wearing jersey number 11 as a wide receiver and cornerback.
He stood 5’6″, weighed 145 pounds, and had a 4.45 shuttle time, playing with intensity, focus, and leadership beyond his years.
He contributed to the Modified, JV, and Varsity football programs from 2019 to 2024.
Jimmy balanced his athletic career with his academics and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping with his family.
Tragically, James W. Ryan’s life ended far too soon, just 18 years old, with so much promise ahead of him.
His passing was unexpected, which brought sadness to his family, classmates, teachers, and the whole community.
While little is known about his parents, who have remained private during this time, it is clear they are devastated by the loss of their beloved only son.
Amanda McCarthy, a former teacher, remembered him as kind, funny, and full of life, saying:
I am so heartbroken to hear the news of Jimmy’s passing. He was such a good kid, great friend, kind and silly. I remember talking to his parents all the time about their camping trips. He will be greatly missed. Praying for God’s peace and comfort over your family.
Moreover, his teammates and coaches praised his quiet leadership and support on and off the field.
Jimmy is survived by his parents, Michael and Sarah Ryan; his sister, Emily; grandparents John and Patricia Ryan, and Thomas and Linda Wells; as well as extended family and close friends.
Baldwinsville Central School District announced a candlelight vigil in his memory at Beaver Lake Nature Center.
Though James’s life was tragically cut short, his memory and contributions remain alive in the community.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to James W. Ryan’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
Rest In Peace, Beautiful Soul!
