Afton Robertson, a former high school cheerleader from Rangely, Colorado, has died in a tragic accident, leaving her family and community in grief.
Afton was a 2025 graduate of Rangely Junior/Senior High School, where she was a member of the cheer team.
In the Rangely School District, she was not just a cheerleader; she was also academically accomplished, having earned multiple accolades.
She was actively involved in District 1 FFA Leadership Development Events, participating on the Parliamentary Procedure team.
Not only was she academically strong, but she was also a loving teammate, devoted student, and a helpful, kind person.
Following her high school graduation, Afton joined the University of Nebraska–NCTA.

Born on March 17, 2007, Afton was the loving daughter of Michelle Kelly Robertson, who now passes through the grief of losing a daughter.
She was involved in an accident near the south of North Platte.

Following her tragic demise, many have expressed their sympathy to the Robertson family. Expressing her support to the family, one person wrote in a Facebook comment;
Oh Michelle. I am so sorry, I don’t even have the words. I am praying for comfort and peace for you and your family. I am sooooo incredibly sorry for your loss.
Additionally, while everyone was expressing their grief on their own, the Rangely School District RE-4 has made announcements regarding a gathering.
To honor Afton’s memory, Rangely Junior/Senior High School has welcomed everyone on Friday, December 26, at 6:00 p.m., at the Rangely Junior/Senior High Auditorium.
People are encouraged to bring candles to light in her memory, and the school will also provide counselors to help attendees share their thoughts and process their grief.
While the community, along with the Robertson family, mourns the loss of a young child, we also express our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and everyone who knew Afton.
