Chelsea Gray, born on October 8, 1992, is a professional basketball player for the Las Vegas Aces in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was selected as the eleventh pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft.
Although she couldn’t participate in the 2014 WNBA season due to injury, she debuted with the Sun during the 2015 WNBA season. In 2016, Gray secured her first championship title with the Los Angeles Sparks.
Recently, she added a second championship title to her achievements with the Las Vegas Aces in the 2022 WNBA Finals, where she also earned the Finals MVP.
Chelsea Gray Wife
Gray’s wife, Tipesa, was born on March 4, 1990, in Los Angeles County, California.
Tipesa attended Narbonne High School until 2008 and started playing basketball at a young age. She was named to the Los Angeles Times All-City First Team in high school and received All-Marine League recognition.
In 2012, she graduated from California State University- Long Beach State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in marketing. During her time there, she ranked third on the team with 7.7 points per game.
After a successful career, Tipesa joined the coaching staff at LBSU in the 2013-2014 season. She later earned a master’s degree in sport management in 2015.
After graduation, she worked at the School of Skills, a year-round basketball program in Manhattan Beach. She also joined the California Basketball Officials Association’s Los Angeles division and officiated high school games.
Currently, Tipesa is the director of operations for the women’s basketball program at Long Beach State University.
Grays Married Life
Tipesa and Chelsea Gray have been close friends since 2013. Before the 2014 WNBA Draft, Chelsea suffered a knee injury. Upon learning about her friend’s wounds, Tipesa visited Chelsea to offer her support.
Such experience deeply solidified their bond and set them on a path that ultimately led to their engagement in June 2018.
On November 2, 2019, the couple exchanged vows and celebrated marriage at the Bel Air Bay Club in Los Angeles. They have been happily married for almost four years, consistently offering unwavering support to one another.
They enjoy reading books together, and Tipesa is always willing to be the taste tester for Chelsea’s culinary experiments.
Family
Gray’s parents are Vickey and James Gray, who have been married for over 30 years. They have lived most of their lives in Oakland, CA.
She has one brother, Javon Gray. Her two cousins, Steven Crawford, and Sean Watkins, are close to her, so she refers to them as her brothers.
Her parents greatly supported her athletic career from a young age. They let her try different sports and activities to see what sparked her interest.
Similarly, her two older brothers were the ones that first put a ball in her hands. They were the ones that would be in the backyard shooting and practicing with her until the lights came on.
