Chicago Bears Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson Shares Two Kids With Ex-Partner Summer Bunni!

This article was last updated by on

C.J. Gardner-Johnson has two kids, twins, a boy named Saint Ace Chauncey Johnson and a girl named A’cel Johnson, with his ex-partner, Summer Ann Bunni, an Instagram model and influencer.

The twins arrived in February 2021, when Gardner-Johnson was in the early stages of his NFL career, just after he graduated from the University of Florida.

Gardner-Johnson has mentioned his role as a father in a few interviews over the years. He has often tied them to his drive on the field.

He has said that thoughts of his children motivate him during games, pushing him to perform at his best.

That said, precise details about his involvement in his children’s upbringing remain limited, as he tends to keep family matters private.

The twins live with their mother, Bunni, in Florida. Occasionally, she shares glimpses of their lives on her Instagram account.

Raising the twins has not always been straightforward for Bunni, who has spoken publicly about handling most of the day-to-day responsibilities on her own.

Things took a more public turn in February 2025, right after the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, when Bunni accused him of threatening her daughter.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson Accused by Ex-Partner of Threatening Daughter and Neglecting Twins!

After the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX, Gardner-Johnson made comments during the post-game celebrations, criticizing Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for his past relationship with Kayla Nicole.

He posted on social media that Kelce should have stayed with her, adding that people need to respect and protect Black women. Those remarks drew attention, but they also led to a strong response from Bunni.

Bunni took to her Instagram Stories with a series of posts accusing him of not living up to those words in his own life.

She pointed out that he is rarely there for the twins, comparing him unfavorably to other NFL players, such as Patrick Mahomes and his teammate Saquon Barkley, who often spend time with their own children. She wrote:

Yall letting that man hold that trophy ask him to hold his kids fr that’s not Super Bowl material everytime I look up Patrick mahomes is with his kids or even his own team mate Saquan like

Bunni

Bunni concluded by asking those around him to encourage better behavior, noting that winning a trophy does not compensate for being present as a parent.

She wrote, “Does he not have actual real human beings around him to correct this behaviour? Aint no way.”

Likewise, Bunni also questioned why he focuses so much on calling out others when his own family needs him more.

Bunni said Gardner-Johnson had sent threats to their daughter just before the Super Bowl game. She wrote that he was upset with her and took it out on the child, which she called unacceptable.

Then he had the nerve to say protect black queens????? CJ BE FORREAL YOU HAVE A BLACK DAUGHTER YOU SEND THREATS TOO CAUSE YOU MAD AT YOUR BABY MAMA!!! Protect a black queen??? LET ME COOK

Bunni

Bunni didn’t hold back; she shared a series of stories describing his actions. She wrote:

CJ tell people what you said about your kids before the game and how you ran your hand cause you know I don’t tolerate disrespect you walking around here attacking every player in the nfl trash talking them and hide your hand fr I seen em slap
you multiple times on the tv and you just looked talked on the bus smh lmao and I’m still stuck on protecting black queens PALEASEEEE YOU AND A BLACK QUEEN? Boy bye

Then she sheds light on his words on the podcast, which contradicts his behaviour, writing:

Then you go on a podcast talking about “my kids” your kids??????? Yours
kids?????? CHAUNCEY GARDNER WHAT KIDS? WHERE ARE THE KIDS? WHOSE RAISED THE KIDS THIS WHOLE TIME?
STILL DONT ASK YOU FOR NOTHINGGGGGGGGGGG BOOKIE YOU SAID YOUR LIFE IS A SQAURE YOURE RIGHT YOU ARE A SQUARE!!!

Bunni

Many fans and commentators agreed that no one, not even a Super Bowl champion, should get a pass on family duties.

Some pointed out the irony of Gardner-Johnson’s words about respect clashing with the accusations against him.

As of now, Gardner-Johnson has not addressed any of this publicly. He has stayed quiet on social media and in interviews.
