Gregg Berhalter, an American soccer coach currently serving as the head coach and director of football for MLS club Chicago Fire, has been happily married to his wife, Rosalind Santana, for over 25 years.

The former MLS star Gregg Berhalter first met his wife, Rosalind Santana Berhalter, while attending the University of North Carolina, where they both were exceptional athletes.

Like Gregg Berhalter, his wife, Rosalind, was a member of the Tar Heels soccer team at the University of North Carolina, where she played alongside Mia Hamm, Tisha Venturi, and Angela Kelly, who is now the head coach for the Longhorns at the University of Texas.

Rosalind helped her team win four championships during her tenure at the University of North Carolina.

Similarly, after years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 1999 and have been happily married for over two decades.

Despite being the wife of renowned soccer coach Gregg Berhalter, Rosalind prefers to maintain a low profile and hasn’t shared much about her professional life, nor is she active on social media.

Gregg Berhalter And His Longtime Wife, Rosalind, Faced Public Scrutiny In 2023 When A 1992 Altercation Incident Resurfaced

The 2022 World Cup U.S. men’s national team coach Gregg Berhalter and his longtime wife, Rosalind Santana, faced backlash from netizens when their altercation incident from 31 years ago resurfaced in 2023.

In 1992, while freshmen at the University of North Carolina, Gregg Berhalter and Rosalind Santana had a heated argument outside a bar, which occurred while they were still dating.

During the fight, Rosalind slapped Gregg, who then pushed her down and kicked her twice.

This incident further ended their relationship at the time, but they reconnected several months later, sought counselling, and rebuilt their relationship.

The incident remained private until January 2023, when Danielle Reyna, mother of U.S. soccer player Gio Reyna, informed U.S. Soccer officials that she intended to expose the decades-old event after being upset about her son’s playing time.

This led the U.S. Soccer Federation to open an independent investigation. The inquiry confirmed the 1992 event as an isolated incident that Berhalter had already disclosed and addressed years ago.

It found no ongoing issues or legal barriers to his coaching role. The investigation also revealed that the Reyna family had pressured officials and threatened Berhalter during the World Cup period.

Likewise, Gregg also released a statement addressing the incident and stating that both he and his wife have learned their lessons and set the foundation for their relationship moving forward.

He also stated that they are in a loving and devoted relationship and happily living their life with their amazing kids.

Gregg Berhalter And Rosalind Are Proud Parents of Four Children

Gregg Berhalter and his wife, Rosalind, are not just a power couple but also amazing parents to their four children: three daughters, Lily, Santana, and Delilah, and their only son, Sebastian Berhalter.

Furthermore, Gregg and Rosalind passed their athletic genes to all four of their kids, who are all excelling in soccer.

Their only son, Sebastian Matthew Berhalter, born on May 10, 2001, in London, England, is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Sebastian played collegiate soccer at his parents’ alma mater, the University of North Carolina. He recently delivered solid midfield play in the Gold Cup quarterfinal against Costa Rica, playing for her team, the U.S., and showed confidence by stepping up for a penalty, despite narrowly missing in the shootout.

Similarly, their three daughters, Delilah, Lily, and Santana, are also thriving in their soccer journey.

Lily Berhalter played varsity Track and Field and Soccer at Alphonous Academy, from which she graduated in 2022. She currently plays on the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL.

Lily began playing soccer at the age of four in California and continues to thrive in her athletic journey.

Likewise, their other daughter, Santana Berhalter, played soccer at Saint Ignatius College Prep and is currently pursuing a major in sports management and marketing at Indiana University Bloomington.

Although very little information is available about Santana’s athletic journey, she has been working as a retail sales associate at Bluemercury in Chicago, Illinois, for over five years.

Their youngest daughter, Delilah, is currently playing varsity soccer and track and field at Alphonous Academy and is set to graduate in 2031.
