The former NFL quarterback Phil Simms was born Philip Martin Simms on November 3, 1955, in Springfield, Kentucky, United States, to his father, Williams L. Simms, and his mother, Barbara Simms.

He was born on his grandfather’s farm in Hill Manor in Washington County.

As a kid, he went to St. Dominic’s Elementary school until his family moved to Louisville.

After that, Phil attended St. Rita Catholic grade school.

Philip graduated high school in 1974 from Southern High School Magnet Career Academy (MCA) in Louisville and also played as a quarterback for the school’s football team, The Southern Trojans.

Following his high school graduation, he went to NCAA Division II Morehead State University of the Ohio Valley Conference in Morehead, Kentucky.

During his college, he played for the Morehead State Eagles football team.

All in all, he spent his entire 15-year professional career playing for the Giants, making a name for his team and for himself in the process.

Also, he was part of the Giants team when they won Super Bowl XXI in 1987 and Super Bowl XXV in 1991.

In 87 Giants met the Broncos in Super Bowl XXI, and in the biggest game of his life, Phil had one of the finest performances in the Bowl’s history.

His three touchdown passes in the game set an NFL postseason record.

And interestingly, as of 2017, Phil still held 13 Giants franchise records in the minimum.

Simms retired from organized football after he sustained shoulder surgery following the 1993 NFL season.

He played college football for the Texas Longhorns for the University of Texas in Austin and was later drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

Aside from the Buccaneers, Simms also played for the Titans and Broncos.

After eight seasons with three different teams, he was cut from the Titans roster on September 4, 2010.

He was never re-signed by his team or picked by any other teams in the league ending his professional career.

Nevertheless, on March 26, 2012, the New England Patriots hired him as a coaching assistant.

The following year Chris joined Fox Sports as a commentator and made his debut on August 31, 2013, when West Virginia University played William & Mary.

Chris then joined Bleacher Report as an NFL analyst in February 2014.

As for his personal life, he met his wife, Danielle Marie Puelo, in high school. The pair got married in August 2004. They share two children; Phillip, born in 2010, and Charlotte, born in 2006.

He later joined Jim Nantz as CBS’s lead broadcast team.
