Flushing, New York and ENYYSA community mourns beloved Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League President and Longtime Coach Paul Kontonis, 54

The flushing, New York community and Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association are mourning the untimely death of beloved soccer coach and CJSL president, Paul Kontonis.

According to reports, Paul Kontonis passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at an untimely age of 54; however, the details surrounding his untimely death are not yet available.

A native of New York, Paul Kontonis was a cherished member of the city’s soccer community and touched the lives of many through his remarkable coaching and his journey as a president and director of several youth clubs.

Beginning his coaching career with BW Gottschee U8 Boys “E”-team in 2010, Paul led his team to several victories.

He had served as president of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League, the oldest youth league in American soccer, founded in 1933, for the past 1.5 years, succeeding Ron Restrepo in June 2024, until his recent demise.

Before that, Paul served as CJSL’s vice president for years.

Paul Kontonis also dedicated years to serving as the coach of the Eleftheria Pancyprian Soccer Club U9 Boys, NY Pancyprian Freedoms II, and as the EPSC Director of Club Development.

Furthermore, the untimely death of Paul Kontonis has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are sharing the memories of the late Paul on social media and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

The Federation of Cypriot American Organizations wrote:

“His dedication, leadership, and love for our community will never be forgotten.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family and to the entire Pancyprian organization.
May his memory be eternal 🙏RIP Coach Paul 💙.”

CJSL added:

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Paul’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to work alongside him. His legacy within CJSL and the wider youth soccer community will not be forgotten.”

Paul Kontonis’ contribution to the New York sports community will always be remembered.

Late Paul Kontonis Also Built a Strong Career In The Corporate Industry

In addition to his sports career, Paul Kontonis also built a reputation in the community as a renowned chief marketing officer across several industries.

He served as the Chief Marketing Officer (Advisory) at CommPro and as the Chief Marketing Officer in Residence (Advisory) at Fabric Media.

Prior to that, Paul served as the Chief Marketing Officer of Revry from 2021 to February 2025, and as the Chief Marketing Officer of WHOSAy, a Viacom Company, for over 3 years.

He also worked as a Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Digiday and SVP, Strategy at Collective Digital Studio.

Earning his High School degree from Stuyvesant High School in 1989 and his BA in Economics and Psychology from New York University in 1993, Paul began his career as the president and co-founder of Marble Columns Management and Marketing Manager at Eli Lilly & Co.

He also served as the director of new business development and co-founder of Silver Shock, vice president of sales and marketing at SenseNet, Chief Marketing Officer at Btldesign, and also with several other companies.

Paul Kontonis’ family will soon provide details about his funeral and memorial services.
