Clayton State University is mourning the tragic death of men’s soccer goalkeeper David Magala.
David Magala, born in 2000, was a senior goalkeeper for the Clayton State University and Tucker High School’s men’s soccer team.
At Tucker High School, Magala captained his team to an undefeated season before COVID-19, leading them to state quarterfinal appearances as both a sophomore and junior.
Standing 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 175 pounds, he started 15 matches and posted a 9-2-4 record with four shutouts and a 1.41 goals-against average, earning Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors in 2022.
He also recorded two shutouts and a career-high 10 saves in a single game against Young Harris.
Magal appeared in four matches for Clayton State University, making 15 saves and helping the Lakes win a penalty shootout over Converse in the NCAA Round 32 in 2024.
Off the field, David studied Criminal Justice and earned Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Presidential Honor Roll honors.

David Magala Is Survived By His African-American Parents
David Magala’s parents are mourning the tragic loss of their son. They have always supported David in achieving his soccer dreams.
Although David and his family lived in the United States, their ancestors had a deep-rooted history with African heritage.
Therefore, they hold African-American ethnicity and American nationality.
According to the source, soccer goalkeeper David Magala had a brother, Jean-Paul Magala, born on July 17, 2006. Sadly, Jean took his last breath on September 27, 2024.
