Climber Jake Mulvaney, 35, Passed Away, Leaving Behind His Family And Portland Community!

Born and raised in Portland, Jake Mulvaney was a young and passionate climber who tragically passed away on September 13, 2025.

While the cause of his death is under wraps, reports suggest that his passing was sudden and unexpected.

Jake Mulvaney Was The Co-Founder of The Jug Rock Gym!

Jake Mulvaney was a skilled climber and co-owner of The Jug Rock Gym in Redmond, Oregon.

The gym opened in early 2023 and quickly became a key spot for climbers near Smith Rock.

Beyond climbing, he loved horse riding, hunting, playing golf, and spending time with his family.

Additionally, Jake was an avid nature lover who spent much of his time hiking, exploring the outdoors, and embracing the beauty of nature.

Following his passing, many of his friends, family members, and closest loved ones took to social media and flooded it with heartfelt tributes.

The Smith Rock State Park offered a heartfelt tribute to him, saying:

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Jake Mulvaney. Friend, climbing partner, Co-founder of The Jug, and all around great guy. He touched many lives with his long conversations and caring heart. Jake was one of a kind, and he will be sorely missed. A celebration of life will be held this Friday, details in this post.

The celebration of his life will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Smith Rock.

It will begin with a meet-up at the covered picnic shelter at the top of the main trail at 10:00 AM.

Climbing will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Morning Glory Wall, and only experienced climbers with their own gear are permitted to participate.

However, non-climbers are warmly invited to spectate and join in honoring Jake’s legacy.
