Santiago Sharks Athletics, which is a member of the Corona-Norco Unified School District, is facing accusations from parents and fans for failing to determine the parking cost and using a cash-only policy for their games.
According to the Official statement of Shark Athletics, they have suggested people to “Avoid Online Per Ticket Services” for the 2025 Football Season Pass, to save more. Still, many are raising the question about pricing.
The High School has divided the Pass into two levels: the 20-Punch Pass, which costs a whopping $200, and the 10-Punch Pass for $100.
Passes, Prices, And Problems
In the first Pass, people can get four General Admission tickets for five Varsity home games and a parking pass. People with this pass can also attend the JV and Freshman Home Games.
For the second one, you get the same benefits but just for two, and you have to pay extra for parking. Also, family, friends, and fans attending the away or tournament games should be ready to pay from their pockets again.
One of the individual, who has been a part of CNUSD has come forward and told authoritoes to held accountable for their policy, she wrote: “Is it typical for High schools to charge 25.00 for parking each game? On top of the fees when you buy tickets seems excessive. Plus only excepting 25.00 in cash “exact amount” when you don’t have the punch plan for $200 doesn’t make sense. This system could leave room for a lack of accountability.”
While some of her points are entirely valid, he most likely misread the Parking cost as $25 per game, which is actually for the whole season. However, many are still unsatisfied and shocked that High School is forcing students to pay money for parking.
“Never have paid for parking that’s crazy. My girls are in college never paid for parking and now I’m sons in high school but different school and we don’t pay that’s nuts,” said Andrea.
The high school is also expecting the individuals to have exactly $25 in change, if they don’t have the 20-Punch Pass, which can be ridiculous for many, especially when most people prefer digital transactions.
Though the pass is transferable among friends and family members, parents of other high schools are baffled by the payment system the high schools are now adopting instead of growing the sports community.
The price for the Varsity Games can go more than $11 per person, and the IV/Freshman Games can cross $8. “This seems excessive… it’s not professional teams lol,” Lindsay added.
Some are also unhappy that parents have to pay their kids to play on their own premises. “I’m shocked to hear high schools charging to watch games. We were always encouraged to attend our high school sporting events as a way to promote school spirit. It was a hang out place and even homecoming was free. No way I would pay to watch high school games. Pretty ridiculous of u ask me. I’m Flabbergasted even parents have to pay to watch their own kids play,” said Ghalia.
