Steve Pikiell serves as the head coach of the Rutgers University men’s basketball team, a position he took over in 2016.
He is credited with bringing notable improvements to the program. Under his leadership, Rutgers led the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 30 years in 2021.
Before his tenure at Rutgers, Pikiell gained coaching experience at Stony Brook University, where he spent several years as the head coach.

Following their marriage, she dedicated her time to being a stay-at-home mom, focusing on caring for their family.
Despite Steve’s prominence in the public eye, Kate has deliberately kept a low profile, living a private life away from the media’s constant scrutiny.

Coach Steve Pikiell and his wife, Kate, directed this philanthropic contribution, allocating $25,000 to support the university’s men’s basketball program and an additional $25,000 to benefit Stony Brook Long Island Children’s Hospital.

Steve and his wife, Kate, are the proud parents of four children: Brooke, John Patrick, Olivia, and Kevin.
Brooke, the eldest among them, pursued her passion for basketball at Northwestern University, earning a degree in psychology in 2021.
She is furthering her education by pursuing a Master of Science in Business of Fashion at Rutgers Business School.
Since May 2023, she has been working as a Customer Relations and Showroom Assistant at Markarian.
John Patrick enrolled at Rutgers University, majoring in sports management, and aspires to work in college or professional athletics.
His journey included a sports marketing internship at Rutgers University.
Olivia Pikiell, recognized as the Ridge High School Athlete of the Year during her high school years at Ridge High School, is currently a member of the women’s lacrosse roster at the University of North Carolina.
Kevin Pikiell is currently a student at Christian Brothers Academy, where he plays basketball for the varsity team, showcasing the family’s continued passion and involvement in sports.
