Thomas J. Schwieterman passed away from a sudden medical event at the age of 25 on July 6, 2025, at his residence in Coldwater, Ohio.

While the specific details of his medical condition have not been shared, reports suggest that his passing was sudden and unexpected.

Tom Schwieterman Was A Seventh-Grade Football And A Junior High Track Coach!

Born on October 27, 1999, Thomas “Tom” Schwieterman was a beloved figure in Coldwater, Ohio, known both as an exceptional athlete and a dedicated educator.

A 2018 graduate of Coldwater High School, Tom was a standout multi-sport athlete who competed at the state level in wrestling, football, and track and field.

His passion for sports carried into his adult life as he returned to his alma mater community to coach and mentor the next generation.

After graduating from Wright State University, Tom became a fourth-grade teacher at Coldwater Elementary School and simultaneously served as the seventh-grade football coach and junior high track coach.

Beyond school, Tom worked at Ohio Recycling in Chickasaw and enjoyed playing weekly basketball games with his friends.

He was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, where his strong faith guided his life and actions.

Additionally, he was affectionately remembered by family as a fun-loving uncle and supportive brother.

His unexpected passing at just 25 years old, from a reported sudden medical event, shook the community.

Tom’s family, friends, students, and even people beyond Coldwater have expressed deep sorrow, taking to social media and other platforms.

One of his friends shared a heartfelt tribute, remembering Tom for his smile and hugs, saying:

He is survived by his parents, James and Lucy Schwieterman, his siblings, nieces, nephews, and fiancée, Heidi Tangeman.

Likewise, Thomas was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leon Homan, and a godchild and nephew, Hayden.

His legacy continues through the many young lives he touched as a teacher, coach, and mentor.

Though only 25 years old, Tom’s impact as an athlete, educator, coach, and man of faith will be remembered for years to come.
