Kurtis Dashun Knox, an 18-year-old recent high school graduate from Chicago, Illinois, passed away on April 21, 2025, due to a medical condition that affected his brain.
A bright and spirited individual, Kurtis had just graduated from high school and had a passion for football and ROTC.
Kurtis, a recent high school graduate, was a young, bright, and spirited individual. His sudden loss has left his family, friends, and community heartbroken.
Following his tragic demise, his sister, Kari Knox, took to her Facebook account to grieve the loss. She wrote:
You hurt me bad with this one baby brother I love you and I’m so glad I always told you I love you so you knew❤️you left a lot of people hurt 😢💔

Kari’s friend, Elizabeth Graves, gave words of support, writing: “You know you can always call me. You’ve always been there for me so dont forget to let me do the same for you.“
Kurtis was not an ordinary teenager; he was someone who worked hard and cared deeply for others.
He loved football and was a star on his high school team. His coaches and teammates admired his skills, but even more, they respected his ability to lift everyone up with his positive attitude.
Kurtis was also part of his school’s ROTC program, where he showed great leadership. He dreamed of serving his country one day.
Meanwhile, details surrounding his funeral services have yet to be published by his family.
