Darius Jaloyd Rush was born on February 22, 2000, in Kingstree, South Carolina, as one of the three children to parents George Conrad Harvin and Sonja Rush-Harvin.
He has two siblings, a brother named Marcus and a sister named Kayla.

In 2013, at the age of just 13, just before enrolling at C.E. Murray High School, Darius Rush lost his father in a fatal car accident.
Darius Rush’s father, George, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, in a single-vehicle crash.
According to reports, George Harvin, 44, was traveling west on Sumter Highway, five miles west of Kingstree, when his 2002 Cadillac SUV ran off the right side of the roadway.
George over-corrected the SUV, and the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch, several trees, overturning, and then catching fire.
Furthermore, the untimely passing of Darius’s father was a devastating situation for him and his family.
Darius Rush’s Mother, Sonja Rush-Harvin, is a Dedicated Educator and Loving Mother
After George’s demise, Sonja-Rush Harvin raised all three of her children as a single parent and guided them in their professional as well as personal journey.
Sonja is a respected figure at C.E. Murray High School, where she has worked for 27 years as a teacher, helping students and the football team succeed.
She strongly believed in the importance of education, inspired by her own mother, who was a teacher at Williamsburg Technical College.
Similarly, Sonja ensured that her kids would take education seriously, in addition to their other passions.
In 2016, she was named USA Football’s Team Mom of the Year, beating out over 2000 other moms from across the country.
Sonja is also known for her charitable work. She organized meals, raised money for the football team, and supported players who didn’t have parents to cheer them on during special events, such as senior night.
Her efforts won the school a $5,000 grant to buy new football uniforms and equipment.
She is also featured in 2018’s Lifetime 50 Women Across America (SC) and continues to inspire and motivate people.
